Ever Used A Ducati Performance Ecu In Your Ie?

  1. Just wondered if anyone had fitted an official Ducati Performance ECU on their IE and if so what the difference was in running and power from stock?

    Thanks! :)

  2. I can't believe that nobody has swapped out their old ECU for a Ducati Performance one! Especially if fitting freer flowing end cans and air filter?!

  3. They are rare and when they do come up expensive. I put a pc3 on my bike with a factory map. It runs better but rubbish on low revs neutral throttle.
The original ecu can be rewritten which might be cheaper. Mark White at bsd has played with them on a dyno.

  4. They are indeed rare. Thing is that back when they were current tech, the stock ECU had enough "slack" in it to be able to trim the fuelling to work pretty well. Many 900's run open cans etc. on the stock ECU reasonably well.
The DP unit ran a little better and iirc had a slightly higher rev limiter, although I may be wrong on that.
Due to the rarity, I've rexxer mapped a few lately that have the now again available Termis from Ducati, minus the DP ECU....

  5. Thanks Nelly and 900SF that's really helpful. My bike is a 1999 900SS which 'I think' normally takes a Ducati Performance 09035 ECU. I've managed to track down a 09145 Ducati Performance ECU for a 2000 900SS - will it work on my 1999 model?

    Cheers!

  6. The y2000 ecu will work fine on your 1999. Same spec motor.

@nelly is the rexxer map a custom map that you've written for 900ie or dp cans/k+n?
    Cheers, Keith.

  7. The Rexxer map I've used Keith has been their stock one they've done for open cans and air filter. Has worked pretty well. Smoother, better mid range and around +4hp peak. Tbh, their maps usually do until you start with cams or big bore kits. Then I write bespoke.
When I get mine sorted I'll do that. It's on a FIM flash that was done when the heads went on many moons ago.

  8. Thanks Keith! How about one from a 900 Monster from 2000 bearing in mind mine is the 900SS will the Monster DP ECU still be fine as it's the same engine? Cheers.

  9. I think early monster ie had different cams so the dp ecu may differ but will be within fueling tollerance anyway. I have some pics of dp ecu's from ebay. I'll dig them out. I ran cans only with std ecu and it ran well with no probs. When I put k+n and cut the airbox lid it ran a bit sick. I don't think the dp ecu are worth the money they fetch, I wouldnt pay more than a secondhand pc3 which can be tuned on a dyno for a much better result. That series of ecu were a bit under developed imho, my 907ie 10 yrs older runs sweeter than the SS.

  10. image.png image.png The numbers are very confusing.

  11. Thanks, yes those are the two I was looking at. The top one the seller has told me is no longer available. But the bottom one I might go for if I can be sure it would work with my 1999 900SS...

  12. Those were in usa. Theres one in uk for sale about £200. What have you done cans filter? Check with nelly first he might be able to flash your ecu to same map.

  13. Can't find the UK one? Just semi-sport cans (freer breathing but still road legal) and a freer flowing air filter. Box hasn't been modified. Maybe getting nelly to flash a spare ECU would be the best option. Keep one stock and one custom.

  14. Im pretty sure mine started running rough when i cut the airbox. If you cut yours make sure the front of the tank covers the hole.

  15. I think it will work fine especially as you dont have fully open cans. I dont think you're going gain much though and it might even run worse round town. From my experience and a few owners Ive spoken to these bikes are lumpy and vibey and theres not much can be done about it.

  16. Pretty sure I have a DP ECU kicking around at home. I must have had it 10 or more years, and it's been sat in a drawer. Will take a look at the part number(s) on it when I get home...

  17. Nik! That would be most cool. Could you please let me know if it has the 09035 code for 1999 900SS? Thanks!

  18. The unit I have says 09147A.
