  1. Not fair to call XJ's ( and many 70's 80'sjap stuff) 'sh!t' - just that you've been spoiled with yer Duc and it's fancy dan adjustable suspension and torquey engine .....I'm possibly in a similar position CJ - hopefully starting a new contract next week that'll involve a 60 mile round trip each day, including the parking lots either side of Runcorn Bridge and plenty of motorway/dual carriageway, so a cheap XJ9 for a hack would be ideal .... but seems anything now with an MOT/Tax is labelled 'Classic' and some dolt wants £3k for it!

  2. I'll take it off your hands for £60...

  3. Looks like a bargain to me - perfect winter hack, just don't try to wheelie it ;-)

  4. Looks like my office is being moved soon, and my 5 mile each way commute will become a 50 mile each way commute. Fortunately I'm luckier than a black cat chewing a rabbits foot, and I've just landed a free 92 CBR 600.. I've always rated the steel frame CBR's as one of the best all round road bikes out there, and miss my old 1990 F-L. I've also always fancied a 92 F-M as its all the bike you will ever need. Oh wait.. I've got one!

  5. You jammy bugger:frown:

  6. It has worked out rather nicely. I've even managed to hire a Mercedes Sprinter for £40 for a couple of hours on Sunday morning!!! I don't have a credit card, so hiring vehicles is always rather tricky, but this is a local outfit who simply charge by the hour, half day or day - no deposit no credit card swipe required, nothing.

The plan is to have the CBR up and running by christmas.

  7. My Old XJ900 has just gone up at 895 if anyone knows anyone looking for a hack?

  8. Well, CBR is home safe. Gotta say, its not in bad shape at all - wont take much to get it up and running. it needs (that I can see so far...)

Front caliper rebuild (parts already ordered)
front fairing sorting out (have parts, just time on this one)
    battery
front fork leak sorting (coming out from the bottom screws)

Other than that, everything seems good. I have no concerns over the engine, as it came from a mate of 30 years ( he's known me since I was 4!!!) and he rode the bike before storing it, and reported a clean bill of health other than the afore mentioned forks and brakes.
