Hit a pot hole whilst touring Scotland earlier this month and kinked the RHS of the rear rim.... Sent off the Thersbys is Middlesborough for repair, got wheel back today, result..........SHIT! Rim still kinked, flat spot evident, powder coating flaked off so "Roy" thought it a great idea to get his rattle can out!! Phoned and spoke to Roy, his answer........"if you measure the rim, you'll find it's less than 1mm out of true....I don't give a toss what the casting looks like, the wheel is within my quoted tolerance"......I cannot repeat my response in open forum, but needless to say....I wasn't happy! So........a long shot I know, but the question is, does anyone have a DVT rear wheel they are looking to sell, or know what other wheels fit from the range that might be cheaper on eBay? Wheel holds pressure, just doesn't look like it belongs on a Ducati. All help appreciated. Steve
post a pic, mine has a dink and I've just done 3 trackways with it and had a tyre change. My thought is my car wheels are linked, so long as I miss a few of the bigger potholes and it holds air its all cool Oh and I've done about 400 road miles too
There is no guarantee with rim straightening. This guy got it almost perfect and within safe tolerances and you told him something you couldn't repeat on this forum. Now you want others to come to your rescue with cheap (and most likely flawless) rims. Not going to happen. Everybody is using their rims to hold up the bike.
Did I ask cheap, flawless rims? I asked if someone could assist, and no I wasn't happy, that's my perogotive as a paying customer.
Yes you specifically asked for cheap, and obviously if your repaired one isn't good enough then you're looking for flawless.
Isnt havong it re powder coated a better option? Once its clean again maybe you wont notice anything unusual
Maybe Bradders?? I should look at this, you're probably right, all i'm seeing at the moment is the repair and the botched touch up they attempted.... I'll take it in at the weekend and see what they think.. Thanks
No...I specifically asked for a DVT wheel, BUT also asked if any other wheels from the Ducati range would fit that MIGHT cheaper than that of the MTS. If by flawless you mean straight, then yes, i'm after flawless...........its all semantics!
Send it to Maidstone Motoliner. They have done two of my wheels and the results have been excellent. At a guess, a 1098 wheel may fit as it has the large spindle like the MTS I believe.
I have a pair of standard panigale wheels I'll sell if you are interested. Someone will need to confirm if they fit or not though. Davy
