We are still members until Article 50 is invoked. Once we do that we have two years before EU membership and all that goes with it ceases. Boris has said today he is in no hurry to invoke it (assuming he gets to be PM).
You also have to bear in mind that Johnson was undecided before the referendum began and isn't anti everything EU, unlike that dick Farage.
