899 Replacing Disc Brake Bolts After Removal

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Miike, Jun 7, 2016.

  1. My tyres and discs were removed by a Triumph dealer. My new wheels are arriving this week and they have said that I need to get new bolts for the disc brakes as they should always be replaced after removal.
I called Riders to see if they had some and they didn't stock them and were surprised that I needed a set as they rarely supply any.

Is this good advise from the dealer? They have come up with some other crap advise already so not sure if I trust them.

  2. They've probably lost or fucked them up!!

  3. Good practice to replace them but put some red loctite on and you probably be ok.

2008- fireblades required new caliper bolts each time they were removed according tonhonda as they stretch. Don't think many people did though...

  4. Might just change them for what it will cost.

Does anyone know if I can get them online anywhere?

  5. Moto Rapido Spk to Luke 01962 877998

Phone in the morning should get them next day.

  6. You ain't had a price for the standard Ducati ones yet ;)

  7. Riders wanted £14. But they don't have them :tonguewink:

  8. Race bolt have some as do JHP lol,did you take a look at the stainless ones they are a fair bit cheaper.

  9. £14 was for the rear ones included, so 16nr. The titanium ones are £30 posted from eBay per 10 but still doesn't really interest me over the standard ones. Could do with saving some cash after buying the wheels!

  10. Use a little Loctite on the old bolts, they will be fine :)

  11. I just ordered a set of standard ones. I think I remember saying that they struggled slightly to get the rear ones out and I don't want shitty ones with my shiney new wheels!

On a side note, Moto Rapido parts are extremely helpful guys :upyeah:

  12. Standard ones are made of chocolate that's probably why your dealers suggesting new ones

  13. Just checking, they did say the rear ones specifically yeah? As the only ones which could be argued are once use are caliper bolts as some are stretch bolts.

As Ginge says it's possible the rear bolts are put in with thread lock at the factory and by the time you remove them they are screwed.

Take the opportunity to upgrade them to Probolt or the like I reckon

  14. They said front and rear. Definitely not the calliper bolts as I took the wheels off myself and dropped them in. They claim to change them every time on Triumphs.
