1200 I Give Up! Hello Ktm My Dear Old Friend.

  1. Although we do a fair few miles together, I do a hell of a lot of miles on my own. 13000 a year of which she is on the back for 3000 ish? It'll live on sports settings, much like the multi.

  2. I fitted a preload adjuster to my 2010 SMT. You have to dismantle the shock but its handy. I've had a pro-suspension set-up and I've got a record of all the settings so if I want to load it up to go touring I can just measure the sag, add the load then wind in preload till the correct sag is restored. And vice versa when the load is removed.
A lot of people have found that if you don't get the bike's attitude (front and rear ride height) correct the front end is prone to instability. Get it sorted and its lovely.

  3. My SMR was on rails, I'd carry so much corner speed on that thing.

  4. That's the boy right there...

    KTM 990 SMR. 2011 | eBay
ripe for mods....haven't seen a secondhander for sale for months....

  5. There's a brand new stage 3 DNA airbox sitting on my bench...
But you can't have it, its mine. (The Rotweiller struggles to pass ride-by noise testing and another SMT rider I know has the DNA and the same cans as me and he was passing no problem. So I gave the credit card a pasting).

  6. Yeh that's a nice bike. Shame I'm a short arse.

  7. I had an SMT seat on mine, a lot lower.

  8. Looks like we're paying off the finance now and selling as is. Will then immediately go out and buy this...

  9. I was talking to a fella yesterday when getting the bike serviced and his mate had something like that, raved about it and Ktm in general.

  10. Good move JH. If you're keeping the big screen look I can thoroughly recommend the Palmer screen. That one has the KTM touring screen fitted and they're very turbulent. The Palmer is excellent. If not, I've got a standard screen going spare if you want it, used once. I bought so it looked a bit cooler on a track day but after one ride I went back to the Palmer.

Well worth doing the full uncorking procedure when finances allow. Transforms the bike.

  11. Ummm... I'm coming from a multi. I could ride on a rocket ship, naked, into a head wind, using my ears for steering and experience less turbulence than the multi [emoji6]

  12. Hmm - its funny - I watched the MCN review on the HM evo sp and the KTM and while they said the ktm was better they all rather ride home on the Hyper which is the way I feel also...every time I open the garage and clap eyes on it I think...wow....that. Is extreme....

I had the option of getting a big KTM when I bought the hyper a few months back but it was no contest....

  13. I'm going nowhere near Ducati. I want a bike that will last past warranty.

  14. Although, all joking aside I had a go on a scrambler and loved it.

  15. The Ducati enduro is a great looking bike. Have you considered one.

  16. Too much money for something I no longer trust. Lovely looking bike though.

  17. Right. Bikes going on eBay. What do you reckon for a 2010 with a noisy engine. Throw me some figures out there. All servicing done by P&H motorcycles apart from the last oil and filter change. I also did new chain myself a couple of thousand miles ago.
