So... Anyone willing to throw out a few prices? I'm stumped. Don't know wether or not a dealer would be willing to take it and do the work (obviously at a reduced cost).

  2. Auction? Stick a minimum reserve on.

  3. Might be worth sticking it on as an auction with a reserve. It will go for what someone is willing to pay for it. I'll be flogging the 848 as soon as its fixed (hoping its just a fuel filter needed). Love the bike but don't like the feeling that every time i ride it i'm waiting for something to go wrong and empty my wallet. I'll be going back to a fireblade.

  4. Maybe phone louigi motos rich's mechanic Chris sometimes buys bikes to do up and flog on...

  5. Interestingly, just reading about my rights on a second hand bike. Would anyone consider 2 engine rebuilds in 15 months up to standard for the age of the vehicle?

  6. Nope.... Definately not...

  7. That is a good question to which I don't know the answer. Whilst there is an argument to be made under consumer protection about reasonable expectations the onus would be upon the consumer to prove the case in a court of law, and that could be very difficult and very expensive.

  8. Trading standards would be worth a call Monday. But you'll probably need to find out what the actual issue is with the bike.

  9. You should contact Ducati directly and put these points to them. They agreed to replace my instrument panel at half price four years out of warranty. It took a little pushing though, but they did help me in the end. Send them a message today and they will respond. You'll probably get a phone call by Tuesday.
    Ducati

Maybe you could get a reduced cost rebuild from them. You should recover more than your share from the improved resale value.
They do read this forum though so keep the thread diplomatic and you might find they're willing to help you.

  10. Already left a voicemail for the dealer to call me back. Haven't told them why I am calling though.

Purchased the bike and within a couple of months it needed a full rebuild with new heads. Now we're approx 13 months later, engines gone again.

  11. I still think you should go directly to Ducati. That clearly is not acceptable. You can put in a goodwill request to get assistance in repairing the bike and if they agree to it you can take the it any Ducati dealer you like if you're not happy with work done so far. It'll have to be done by an approved dealer though.

  12. Will contact Ducati too.

Will still sell when all's done. No trust in the brand at all anymore. Plus I've already stripped it.

  13. I suggest - before you advertise it for sale you talk with the dealer and Ducati - they should honour the engine rebuild longer than 13 months.

Then if you do not get any joy - try PX with the guy with the KTM or maybe with Ducati - Ducati may offer some incentives as compensation?

I have the new DVT and have had a few small niggles - nothing serious.

I also have the scrambler - no issues - except the seat and suspension which I have changed - but I knew about those when I bought it

The scrambler will be too under powered for you compared to the Multi.

Why not ask them for a good deal on a new multi on PCP - there's a 2 year WTY and on Monday they will release again the extended warranty.

    Just my 2 Cents..

  14. I don't blame you. You can't enjoy a bike when the trust has gone. Its like having a noisy neighbour. You're never relaxed, you're always on edge waiting for the next thing to kick off.

  15. Just checked. May 15th 2015 is when they told me it was ready for collection following a full engine rebuild. That was over a month after me dropping it off with them. It's handy when you post everything on this forum :)

Since buying it, it's been into the dealer for the following:
    1. Mileage reset about a mile from picking it up from the dealer which caused it to ask me to take it in for its first oil service.
    2. Engine went April 2015. Over month off the road getting engine rebuilt.
    3. Radiator replaced under warranty May 2016
    4. Engine gone - Current
All of this is within 14,000 miles. Not even gotten round to doing a belt service. Dealer apparently did belt service when I purchased it, although with the engine going in April 15 i'm not so sure. They then stated that because it's had a full rebuild, it's basically had ANOTHER belt service.

  16. is there history of other engines failing....or is yours a one off?

fwiw - had a 990 superduke (same engine as SMT) - once exhaust / decatted, O2 eliminators fitted and Quick action throttle - was a hoot. And local KTM dealer will download a map to bike for peanuts....

  17. Dealer emailed. We'll see what they say.

This isn't the only early 1200 faultistrada engine to go. Just google and you'll see.

  18. You had a Superduke and you thought it needed a quicker throttle...? :Wideyed: ;)

  19. Yep..think it was official KTM part - listed as for a RC8 but fits superdukes.
Once you chuck a decent set of cans (decat), fit O2 eliminators and basic KTM remap - bike is transformed and snatcheness (is that a word??) is gone.

  20. Did all that with mine. Leo Vince cans, SAS removed, pancake airbox fitted, Lambdas removed and a full custom remap. The snatchy throttle can be eliminated during the remap if its a custom job. In fact the tuner asked me how soft I wanted the throttle. I said just lose the on/off snatch but no more, leave it with a quick throttle and that's exactly what he did.
When the warranty has expired on the 1290 I'm going to fit a pancake airbox on that and have it custom mapped. I want the throttle response brought much closer to 1:1. It'll be an evil beast then. I reckon it should be possible to get well over 180 bhp at the back wheel.
My SMT by the way is making 120 rwbhp and it sounds lovely and rorty.
