Just been checking up to see why Assen's on a Sunday not a Saturday this year and came across this; The Dutch Grand Prix at Assen to Be Held on a Sunday for the First Time Now, moving the race from Saturday to Sunday has purely economic reasons, in case you wonder. The organizers found out that sporting events that take place on a Sunday draw larger crowds, so the move was a fairly simple one. Makes a bit of a mockery of WSB's decision to move race 1 to Saturdays doesnt it? I for one will miss it
i was quite surprised how far down it was on the list of attendances tbh (lower than malaysia and indy for eg ) MotoGP Feature - Top ten most popular MotoGP races what is the maximum capacity there if they had 97k in 2015 on a saturday and they changed it to sunday to achieve even more?
i heard they moved it to Sunday because of pressure from the Rossi fan club because he is the Sunday man
It's been running how long? and they just noticed this? Schtop! Thisch motorschycle rasche ish not ready. We schould hold it on Schunday for more crowdsh...[1] Or the TV money was big enough to make them change. I think it's a shame, lots of things get lost in the name of progress (and sometimes rightly so for safety etc), but I liked the fact it was on Saturday just because it was something different. [1] with all due apologies for any real dutch peeps reading...
looks like could be a good un,, ducati on pole , Rossi second,,,,,,, crashalot managed middle of second row
Saturday or Sunday doesn’t seem to matter when it comes to the quality of racing at Assen does it, mega days racing :clapping:
Too early for spoilers?! 3 classes. 3 new winners. One will never win another again!! And tbf looked completely in comtrol in mgp while he did it
I was there. It was a cracking weekend with the mental Dutch weather really throwing a spanner in the works. The Moto3 race was the highlight though to be honest! Saw a few UK Multis at my hotel (Bonte Wever) so Hi if it was anyone on this forum. BTW, move to Sunday may have worked as attendance was 105,000 I think!
