Wanting to buy a 1098s but struggling with insurance quotes, will have 2 yrs ncb in march on my speed triple, paid £175 fully comp with 1 yrs ncb on that, done a quote for the 1098 alone and thats come in at £383 with 2 yrs ncb, dont really want to sell my s3 so tried a multibike policy with ebike, came back with £500 third party or £1200 fully comp !! Hell of a price but dont want third party just in case, also got a k9 gsxr 1000 but thats in my wifes name with 5 yrs ncb, only paying £134 fully comp on that Really want a 1098 but as a third bike Mark
Carole's Gash is (apparently) the way to go. I think the way to do it is: Insure your main bike 1st, then add another say a couple of months later etc.... What this translates to at renewal time I'm not sure of? Maybe repeat the process, tedious, but if that's the only way to get the right deal, it's the only way to get the right deal. Capiche?
Thanks, just done a multibike quote with them, £840 Was thinking of buying a 1098 soon and waiting till march when i will have 2 yrs ncb Mark
I'm with Carole Nash. I'm 33 and pay £187.00 fully comp with a classic rider policy. I have a 2012 MTS and a couple of classics I bast around on. They've always done really good deals for me on bikes but never managed to get the car for anything reasonable with them. EDIT: Scub that then, they are still expensive for you..
2 years NCB on a 1098 isn't going to earn you that much relief really. I'm guessing you're not that old which is probably the main problem, suck it up I guess...
Just done a quote for the s3 with 0 ncb, when i bought it i had 0 ncb and paid £497, just had a quote for £234, looks like that will be the way to go, just will have to wait till march to insure the 1098 if i buy one soon Mark
Im 42 but had an accident 5 years ago which took 3 1/2 years to sort out, lost my gsxr750 and bought a gsxr1000 18 months later, insured it my wifes name at the time as it was £3500 in my name and £350 in hers at the time due to the ongoing claim, eventually went split liability third mine, 2/3 her fault Mark
Whichever way you do it, the bike with the highest insurance group will be what the quote is based on. When i bought my 748 and added it to my Fireblade policy, the 748 was a higher risk and the quote was based on the 748.
Really, your 748 was higher risk than a blade? My 636 costs me more than my 748 and it's an SP. To the op - try these mate - https://www.biketeam.co.uk/Default.aspx They were pretty good for me, worth a shot!
I would like to know who's got a good deal re: title - i've been happy with Direct Choice for two years but I should have looked around this renewal time as just been shafted. They still call it a 'multibike' policy but it turns out that I could have run separate policies for less.
I've found Bennetts really good for multiple bike policies, as has my housemate - usually its just a £25 admin fee to add another bike, but were not exactly in 1098 territory....
E-bikes provided the cheapest multibike quote for me this year, may be worth a look. But I always shop around every year cos every insurer tends to bump up the price dramatically on renewal. Watch out for auto-renewal...
Carole nash insure mine:- 2006 GT1000 1990 xj900f 1978 XS 650/840 halco 'all declared' 1994 Guzzi california sidecar outfit 1961 AJS model 14 scrambler 1954 Matchless G3ls Cost- £280
Tried Carole crash, e bike multi, Bennetts, and after all that, the way to go multi bike is as follows: join the national auto cycle & cycle motor club - £11 make sure one of your bikes is older than year 2000 get classic insurance for that at footman James notifying them of your Nacc club Id then add the other bikes as the extras on the classic multi bike policy. My three bikes cost just £550 fully comp with agreed values. not that impressive? When you consider at the time those three bikes were an 888 sp5, a yamaha OW01 and a desmosedici, it's flipping' amazing!
interesting will look into this in feb when my multi policy is up. currently with CN and insure the following on one rider policy 1969 Ducati 350 Desmo 1990 Honda RC30 1992 Honda NC30 uk spec 1990 Honda NC30 1989 Yamaha RD125LC Mk3 1995 Honda NSR250SP MC28 rothmans 1998 Honda CBR600FX 2001 Kawasaki KSR80 1995 Ducati 916 that little lot costs me just over 400 quid fully comp.
I've had my insurance through Express Insurance for years, multibike policies haven't been a problem. Normally been covered by Equity Red Star or NU I think.
