899 Painful Seat

  1. yes maybe i could get them under the trades description act as is not "comfort" its "slightly less uncomfortable"

Reading above .. i might actually try the standard seat and see what its like

  2. I also have all three and I'm yet to decide which is best.

I'm 5'10/11 and like others have said, you do sit a little higher on the comfort and race seats but it's not too dramatic. I also get the uncomfortableness around my inner thighs, and while it's hard to compare in so many varying conditions, I actually think the heat coming from that area doesn't help things. I think the combination of the thin at the front seat, heat coming from the exhaust and the seat itself being warm in its entirety due to the manifold being directly beneath all add up. I get more uncomfortable a lot quicker in jeans than I do in my one piece, which would also point to heat being a factor.

It certainly doesn't help that the seats are so thin at the front. My R6 has a nice wide, flat seat and with the weight spread out evenly is much more comfortable for my boney butt.

Lastly, does anyone else's bollocks go completely numb after a while? I have to check they're still there sometimes!

  3. yea it is ,its not my arse that aches on my bike its my wallet haha

  4. I've never ridden with the standard seat, got the comfort because I liked it's looks and because comfort.

Going to throw the standard one on and give it a bash because I find the comfort uncomfortable after an hour or so at road speeds.

  5. Standard seat needs to be binned purely because it is far too slippery for a sports bike. Have the comfort on mine and it is more comfortable than the standard (no problems on my 1000mile round trip to Assen at the weekend). We all have different behinds, so the only way to know for sure is to try them.

  6. Just bought a standard so we will see how we go. With two I can have one rejigged and covered. I will post an update later.

  7. Yeah, that's a biggy that jolley mentioned above that I missed out - the standard seat is very slippery. I'd definitely recommend getting it recovered with something more like the race or comfort material if that's the one you choose.

  8. I'll let you know how I go on

  9. I find the race seat much better than the standard or comfort seats. One thing worth mentioning is that personally I think stomp grips are absolutely essential and make a huge huge difference to the riding experience. Some people don't like the idea but clear stomp grip is not that noticeable.

Hopefully you should get it tomorrow as I think it was me you bought it off. I'd be interested in the comparison as I have the race seat for my R for track use.

  13. Thanks for sending so quickly. I will let you know asap. I shall be on it as soon as it arrives don't you worry. I went out last night as soon as the flippin' rain stopped

  14. Right, I've just had an hour on the 1199 standard seat and....well....it's hard but better. Whoo hoo. What is best about it, is it has slightly changed the angle of my wrists at the handlebars. It seems to be, for me, a more natural riding position. So I shall have some gel or something thrown in and get it recovered in something less slippy and bob's your uncle it is all golden. Thanks guys and especially Dano for selling me his seat and getting it to me so quickly. I am right happy now. And that bike is fricken awesome...

  15. A happy ending after all. That's great to hear!
