1299 How Quickly Can You Wear Out Std Front Pads

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by PeteKeys, Jun 30, 2016.

  1. Quick question: I'm just about to do 1100 miles over the weekend then 2 days on the track at the Slovakia ring.

I've done 1600 miles on the bike from new to date, including 3 track days.

Pads look ok now, but not sure if they'll last and i don't know if I've got time to get a new set before I leave.

  2. I killed my stock pads in 2,500 miles - all road but one cold, wet trackday thrown in. I would personally take a spare set with you especially given your two days on track. SBS dual carbon pads I'd highly recommend for track

  3. Think Performance Bikes magazines long term test bike wore out brake pads very quickly on track.

  4. Carbon SBS are great for track I agree but I'd never put them on a road bike. They need heat in them to work properly and pads will more often than not be cold on a road bike when you need them most

  5. Yep, completely agree with you. I have used them on the road out of necessity and they are awful without the heat! Track only pads.

An option which will cover both is EBC HH sintered pads. They're my choice for the road and will cope well with track use, but they're not near the level of awesomeness on track as the SBS pads

  6. Thanks for the feedback

my mate who does the Isle of man TT regularily has told me always to use stock pads whateveer the cost - so I do.

He's won the privateers cup and builds his own bikes - so trusted

Hope motorapido have them in sock for first thing tomorrow

  7. Where do you order them from I need a set for mine. Not splashing out on Brembos at min.

  8. Try demon tweeks, although there's probably other sellers offering free delivery

  9. Have you guys ever tried SBS Street Excel HS or RS pads? Is there a noticeabledifference in performance between the HS & RS?

Mainly road, couple of track days later in summer

  10. Not me I'm afraid, so can't comment on them

  11. I use the sbs rs on my 899, much improved initial leaver feel and definitely not lacking on track, a good all round pad for approx £40 a set and much better than the standard brembos pads .

  12. I found some on ebay so ordered a set. OEM are £98 per caliper from dealers!

    £44 for SBS 841RS

  13. Got mine from jhp, just checked invoice they were £48 with a bit of discount for a full set of 4 pads, used them in my 848 also with out any issues.

  14. Yes they are the pads I normally go for on all my bikes but at £122 a set for the Panigale I thought I'd try one of the others.

They improved the feel of the brakes on the 899 no end.

  15. That'll do for me. Ordered a set for the 959. Not bad at £68!

  16. Use them on my 853 track bike, 1098R and will be putting a set in the 1200 Multstrada when the current set wear out. Coupled with a billet race master cylinder and Brembo race discs they are ferocious but in the 1098R using OE m/c and discs lots of feel and plenty of stopping power. Andy

  17. Tempted to take the piss.

  18. I use the Bendix MRR pads from Pdq, they are especially good for getting deliveries out really quick. Usually next day. They do need warming but fine for me on the road and just about as good as the Brembos for a much lower price.
    Brakes DUCATI.
