1200 Schuberth C3 Pro

  1. Is anyone using a C3 Pro with their Multi ? Id be interested in your thoughts, Is it a good combo ? Great looking helmet, fits well, fab reviews and an excellent deal from Motolegends.

Unfortunately I'm returning it, the visor will not click shut with one hand. It takes 2 hands to close, this won't be great on the move, pretty dangerous in fact. Anyone else had issues with this helmet ?

  2. Same on mine, it locks shut perfectly until I'm wearing it! Some sort of misalignment issue, as I'm only a fair weather rider it's not caused me any problems, otherwise love the helmet

  3. No problems with mine, I have had it for a couple of years. Thumb and forefinger on either side of the middle of the visor does the trick for me everytime one handed.

  4. I must have a duff. I spent 90 minutes with the helmet on last night trying to click the visor shut, but it wouldn't do it one handed .

Is the wind noise as good as they claim ?

  5. Thanks for the reply, I must confess I was really disappointed I couldn't get it to click shut. Have you been out in the rain ? I read somewhere if it's an alignment issue it may leak ?

  6. I tried and C3 Pro as a fancied a flip front to use alongside my Shoei GT-Air and share the mileage, however when I tried one that was the right size the chin-bar was uncomfortably close to my chin and felt that if I did end up going face-first down the road that it would probably break my jaw. I've never had a helmet that fitted this way before and it put me right off. I even tried the new E3 and the fit was identical.

Some time back I had an SR1 and it turned out to be the most uncomfortable lid I've ever owned, purely down to badly fitted parts and bad design within the construction, so much so that I sold it after about 6 weeks and only a couple hundred miles. Needless to say, I've not been a big fan of Schuberth however I'm currently doing some work for the Mercedes F1 and they're a major sponsor so I thought I'd buy the wife a C3 Pro "Lady". She loves it and it fits her absolutely perfectly in all areas - we even got the coms kit fitted.

It just goes to show, there isn't one lid for everyone and no matter how cool you think a lid is, it just might not be for you. I've also come to the conclusion that I'm just not happy wearing a "J" type flip helmet of any type, but that's just me.

Since then I've bought a Shoei X-Spirit III (which really miffed some people at work) ... not a flip front and a totally different type of lid, but man what a thing! Awesomely aggressive sporty look, very quiet, extremely comfortable, and also has the space inside to fit a comms system. Not massively more expensive that a C3 Pro either.

  7. They don't seal the weather out anyway. A mate of mine has one and he says that when it rains then water comes in the sides unless he hides behind his screen all the time. I believe that this can be a common thing on J type helmets.

  8. ;)

  9. I've sent it back due to the visor not closing properly, great looking helmet and it fitted well, but if it doesn't work it's no good.

  10. Which model Arai do you have ?

  12. C3 Pro is the best helmet that I have ever owned in 40 years of biking. I have tried many others, but none come close. I suppose that I must have a Schuberth head.

  13. Bought a schuberth c3 pro metal last year and included the Bluetooth collar later on. Have just been over to France and Spain and found the helmet to be excellent. I used to wear ear plugs with previous lids, but the schuberth is very quiet, a great fit with a plush interior. However I did find the locking pins a bit tricky particularly on the move, but with a bit of patience and practice I can lock both sides with the left hand. Each pin has an audible click as it locates. Great for Riding slowly with the chin bar up and the sun visor down Best thing though is the ability to make yourself clearly heard when speaking to non English speaking toll road operators! All round excellent helmet......
    Pricey mind!

  14. The flip up mechanism works fine, it's the visor, it just wouldn't close one handed. Shame but I'm going to go for something else, GT Air or Neotec

  15. Well that is weird..... Good luck with your new choice

  16. Maybe a one off/rare occurrence, I came across a couple of videos online with the same issue. I haven't quite made my mind up the Schuberth was a lot better deal than the Neotec, £360 for a C3 Pro black/red is a cracking deal.

  17. I would not buy the neotec unless you don't mind water running down the inside of the visor, it's not as quite as the C3 either, I have both and riding different bikes not one is ideal for all bikes, on the multi I found the neotec better then the C3 but on a bm bike it's the opposite, the neotec lining is plush and feels nice to wear but looks massive on ya bonce compared to the c3.

  18. We have had a pair of c2s, and then c3s, not the pros.

In both cases they were really quiet on other bikes, but on the mats are really noisy.
On our last couple of trips we have been trying to address this, and made the following conclusions.

    - If the visor closes easily, like it does on my wife's helmet, then the bottom seal is ineffective, and noisy.
    - Head position makes a huge difference.
    - there is no visor adjustment, so if the top doesn't seal you get rain down the inside.
    - even with the front vent shut, it still let's in a bit of air, and this is noisy. If I put tape across this, then the helmet is really quiet. Without the tape on my wife's helmet the wind noise is sufficient to make the vox cut in on our intercom, which in turn plays the wind noise back to us...

We have decided to skip the c3pro and go back to arais.

  19. There's a definite knack to closing the visor with one hand, but it's not hard once you've got it. Kinda thumb on the chin and use index and ring fingers to pull the visor down like a claw motion. I've had a C3, now on a C3 Pro and the next one will be something similar. Never had a problem with water ingress. I wonder if all the people who complain of it realise the visor takes a lot to shut and have been riding around with it on the 'city gap' setting (which does let in water).

  20. I've had similar problems with my C3. I can't get the flip front to close with one hand......or even two once I'm wearing it. Incredibly frustrating and worse than useless as I now leave closed all the time. Would not advise buying one of these.

I've worn it about half a dozen times and have now gone back to wearing my old flip front Grexx (noisier but far easier to use and certified for full and open face use....all for £100). Additionally , whilst the C3 is ok on my BM its sits too low on my forehead for comfy use on my 90ss.

Not impressed to say the least and I just know I'll end up selling it. Have an schuberth R1 full face helmet and that's been a great bit of kit.
