What Tyre To Fit Onto My Dvt

  1. Just about to have a set of Angel GTs fitted, what pressure do you guys run them at for 2 up with luggage in PSI.

  2. 40+ in the front?! Wow

If its weaving at 120 with fully loaded panniers, I'd suggest its nothing to do with the tyres

  3. Pirelli website says 2.7 bar, which is 39psi. That's front and rear.
Ducats manual says 2.9 bar front and rear, which is 42 psi.

I haven't tried them yet but After my recent experience I would go with 39 to start, see how it feels.

  4. I can't tell you at the moment - I've only done about 2000 miles since I fitted them in May. They still look like new.

  5. It didn't weave on the scorpion trail 2's at those speeds.

  6. Thought the manual said 46psi in the rear only , leave the front at 36psi for touring loaded up ?

  7. Rider front 35psi, rear 36psi
    R&Passenger front 35psi, rear 42psi

  8. Apologies, yep thats what it says on the sticker on my swingarm :upyeah:

  9. Just putting the scorpions back on after Oulton so I can ride on the road again. Wtf idea is it to have the double banjo so it takes the paint off the rim as it has to be jammed thru?! Also the bloke who did mine at Oulton as f*kin scuffed it a right b*ard!!!

  10. I checked again, my manual definitely says 2.9 bar front and back for 2up.
No wonder there is confusion if different prints of the manual have different figures...

Braddock, all you need do is push the pads back a bit, and the caliper will come off without the banjo scratching the rim.

  11. I did and was very cafreful but it simply wont pass and I can see where the tyre monkey didnt take the same care with a rag that I did! Its the lhs caliper and the banjo simply will not pass going on or off

  12. For what its worth mate I recently fitted some Bridgestone T30 to my DVT. Vast improvement over the scorpions. Ive done circa 3500 miles since fitting them including a big euro trip and I reckon Ive got about another 1000 miles left on the back and more left on the front.

  13. Bradders (my spool chucker loves your name, you nearly got called bladder this time :D), I'm sure the discs on the dvt are the same size & offset as the earlier ones.
I have 1098s calipers on mine which also has dual banjos, and mine has a bleed nipple on the end too.

Someone had to fit them, so they must come off too. :)
I lift my calipers up off the mounts a bit and then twist them to push the pads back. It's a tight squeeze, but it does come off once the pads are back.

  14. Nice new pair of Pirelli Diablo Rosso III fitted today. Once I've had a chance to scrub them in I will report back. Interestingly the guy who fitted them recommending setting the pressures at 34/38 for solo rider without too much luggage - I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

  15. Twist to push the pads back - good tip :)

  16. Yes I get called bladders a lot on here ;)

I did the same, and pushed pads right back, but it doesn't clear the rim. Without sounding an arse, having done quite a lot of track time, wheels on and off is something I have done lots incl with radials, and the only time even close to this difficult is a K5 1000 with oversized 330 discs

Just use a rag now to try an dprotect the rim, shame that pratt Stef from the OMCC tyres-r-us and already f*ckked them

  17. Diablo Rosso 3. Interesting choice. Be good to see your feedback and thoughts on them

  18. Little update on my T30 experience. I've now done approx 4K on mine.
This includes a highlands trip two up and luggage and a solo euro cannonball with luggage. Had it out today and my rear tyre is definitely on the way out, starting to feel just a little slide here and there. My front tyre has life in it yet but the rear will probably need sorting pretty soon.
I like these tyres guys. I think I will probably go again but look at the EVO versions?

  19. Completely agree about the T30's , great tyre for touring and a bit of scratching , like the quick warm up and the feel of the tyres.
Need some new sliders on my boots

  20. Has anyone used Metzler Roadtech Z8 before?
Can get a pair delivered for £213 and MCN seem to rate them?
I am pleased with the T30 but that YouTube article has got me thinking of trying some Metzlers.
I don't think I've ever had a bike with Metzlers fitted.
