1200 Schuberth C3 Pro

  1. This link shows the kind of problem I had. looks like I had a faulty one.

  2. Mac, at slower speeds yes I will use the city gap, but if it's raining or at faster speeds I close it. No way can I close mine with one hand, no matter how I try. My wife's on the other hand closes easily, but that's because it doesn't fully press against the seal. I put tape along the inner top edge of her visor for the last trip which helped the seal, but it was still noisy.

  3. Gab, that is exactly what my one is like, although the detents are a lot sloppier now than that shown.

I should also add we have had a nightmare with the fog city on my wife's helmet. It often fogs up between the layers, despite looking like it seals all the way around.

  4. Sorry to hear your having the same problem. This isn't my video but I'm pleased I found it. As a consequence I didn't go riding in my helmet, I've just returned it. Most of the online retailers have a no quibble return policy so long as it hasn't been used. I thought a little bit of Vaseline in the clip on the chin bar may help it click shut, I wasn't keen on doing this as the helmet had a matte finish and I may have smudged the paint. Worth giving it a go on yours ?

  5. Thanks Dave, based on your feedback it sounds a close call. The Schu is quieter and better overall but you found the Neo better on the Multi - have I got this right buddy ?

  6. We tried that, used some silicon grease designed for door rubbers. It helps to show up where the seal doesn't touch, but doesn't fix the issues.

We have stuck with our helmets for a few seasons so they are well past being returned. They haven't got worse, they have been like this all the time, we have just lived with it.

This last trip though we decided this will be their last season, as we are both getting tinitus from the noise.

  7. Tinnitus, that's pretty serious, sorry to hear that and it defo sounds like you need a change. What's on your new helmet short list ?

  8. Eh ?
    Speak up :grinning:

Seriously, after 6 years of riding the mts we both notice it after a days riding. And we always wear earplugs too. I now ride with a pp short screen to reduce the noise from turbulence.

I have an rx7 Arai that I wear when on my own. We are probably going back to full face helmets, most lijely arais. I'm not prepared to take the risk of c3 pro's as I don't believe they have addressed the issues we have experienced. I'm not a fan of the shoie and the wife doesn't find it comfortable. I see a trip to helmet city in our future to go try a load on.

  9. Damn! I was considering the C3 Pro as a flip up alternative to my Shoei GT Air. I've started riding for Blood Bikes, and having to have my lid on and off constantly is p-ing me off. Also, I find the GT Air very noisy around the ends of the visor, where there is a sizeable gap. I hoped the C3 Pro would suit by being quieter and more convenient. Seems not. Any better alternatives?

  10.
  11. Seriously,I think you need to try one. Loads of people don't have issues, and others live with the issues as there is nothing better (at the time) that fits them comfortably like we have.
In practice the only time the flip front saves us time is at passport control, and the occasional stroppy petrol attendant. When it's dry and at slow to medium speeds the helmet is fine. It's just crap in the wet or when at speed, which is a lot of the time on our trips.

  12. Yes that's correct, however ive also got a shoei xsprit (I know it's not a flip) and it kicks the arse of the C3 pro and neotec .

  13. Which model X spirit, there's a few, X spirit 2 gets a Sharps 5 star safety score which is very good, most Schu's gets 3 stars and the Neo 4 stars

  14. G'Day, love all my Schuberth helmets (M1, C3, C3 Pro), all equipped with SRC Bluetooth and no dramas riding MTS-PP (2012) and various other bikes like BMW F800GS, etc..etc...

  15. Xspirit 2 and ive just brought the 3 that i haven't tried out yet .

  16. Thanks Dave, whys the XSpirit better than the Neo and the Schu ? What's the noise level like ? Cheers

  17. The GT Air is an excellent lid as I've been using one since they came out. The new Xspirit III is quieter though, but much more of a "race fit" making it very snug, but is also very comfortable too. I'm using both and flit between them both.

  18. The Xspirit III is more track orientated but Shoei have managed to make it so comfortable and quiet that it's actually more of a cross-over between track and touring - it's even got space for a comms system which isn't generally a feature of a track focussed lid. I've done about 2000 miles in my Xspirit III and absolutely love it. The seal on the visor is absolutely solid - nothing comes in at all. Excellent ventilation too. There just isn't a better looking lid on the market at the moment either.

  19. image.png For a flip front, I have a Shark Evo3 Carbon. First experience with this kind of helmet, but it pretty much works as I'd expect. Not particularly quiet I might add, but then on the MTS, what is?

  20. I have the Neo Tech, I like the flip front in town in the Summer, no real issues with rain leaks for me.

BUT - I have problems with ventilation. With a tall screen the internal visor mists badly at low speeds and low temperatures, with the short screen there is too much draft through the front opening at anything about modest speed. I also had a problem with the initial fit and seal of the pinlock that was supplied, changing for a new one fixed this.
