So, after a 3 week wait my beautiful 1299 got delivered this afternoon. Straight out on her and got caught in the rain within 30 minutes, in my summer gear :tearsofjoy: Only ridden 50 or so miles but already can't wait for the running in period to be over, it feels strangled right now. Bed in those rings, loosen the engine and exhaust. Can't wait!
cool nice one glad you've now joined the 1299 club. you will keep admiring it like a sad man but hey we all do it with ours haha.
The speed limit is 70mph so no faster than you will be on the 899, because no one speeds on this site
The front wheel was only spinning at 70mph officer honest! Nice bike, very jealous Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So 1st gremlin to appear on day 1... Bike cut out twice on the ride home from work. First time doing about 40 in 3rd just died, screen stayed on but oil light came on, started no problem. 2nd time about 10 minutes later, after filling up went to pull away, died again. Once again started no problem. Looking online this seems to be a common problem, mostly sorted once bike has been run in properly?
Bugger. Teething trouble. It'll be a farkle disconnecting from a thingymebob. Never nice. But try not to worry it's a new bike and is beautiful. I am sure had I ever had a beautiful women there would have been a problem with her until she uglied up a bit. Luckily I've got one that was pre-uglied.
Yeah it seems from everyone else thats had the problem that there is nothing thats really ever found to be the cause. Hopefully, it doesn't happen very often, and not at all after she's run in.
I had that happen once and touch wood not happened since. Did seem to run better after service so maybe they recalibrate something? You planning on swapping the exhaust?
the first 650 miles it was terrible to ride low down in the revs. after the first service it was all sorted and now rides great at all revs. dealer put it down to aftermarket clutch lever but don't see how it could be so if I was not using the clutch lever ( the micro switch was not pressed in when it shouldn't have been if any of you think). bought some expensive ducabike levers and made sure I copied the original distances to the micro as these levers had adjustable pins. as I said bike is now working great now. but I'm sure they remapped it aswell as updating the software on the first service.ive also got the akras dealer told me they make the bike a little rougher than the standard low down.
Twice on a 20 mile journey home had me thinking WTF was going on! :tearsofjoy: Hopefully the sun is shining this weekend and i'll get to take her out for a nice long run. Not planning on changing the exhaust at this stage, but that might change in a few months time
Mine only cut out at idle when pulling away and very rarely, bad clutch timing. I didn't run mine in religiously though, I used the rev range up to about 7000rpm and occasionally a little higher, and the first 120 miles were at 'varying' motorway speeds, so may have sped up the running in slightly.
So, out on the sexy little beast this afternoon, changed lots of settings and it's like a completely different bike! Engine mode turned up in sport, tc less restrictive, ebc turned down and wow! Can't wait to get back out on her in a little bit! ❤️
I fitted a new back tyre the other day so out it in 'wer' whi le I scribble tyre in for first few miles and that ABS is a nightmare. Trail braking just sits the bike up. Bike is way better with reduced TC and EBC and ABS on 1 or off. Can't decide if I like the high throttle though
I got to spend some quality time on the bike over the weekend and one thing I can say is i've never ridden a superbike that handles as well. It gives you so much confidence in corners. Also, those Brembo brakes are insane! And the seat gets mighty hot with the twist in the pipe right underneath your rump! haha Noticed some oil leaking from somewhere onto the exhaust on the left hand side yesterday when she was being put away, maybe they put too much oil in on the delivery service? Will have to check when I get home later.
