Cheers jh... Saying that if you held a gun to my head I'd probably go for the xr over the r but a KTM above the 2... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
JH - I would have thought the dealer would at least look at it for you given your history with them. And don't forget they also sell KTM's at P&H. There might be a case for getting one at cost price....
I have considered that. I sent the service dept and the sales guy an email. Will also call the finance company this morning as according to citizens advice, if the vehicle is not satisfactory (given age and price paid), they either have to repair it or give a discount.
Its a shitty situation at the end of a shitty week. when my engine went, the dealer and ducati did help out, they saw the obvious strife and problems that the bike had and offered to pay for thousands of the replacement parts and the dealer took a hit with labour. It was an excellent compromise and it restored a lot of faith in the brand. you should get the bike back to your dealer, get his chief mechanic to do a report. your bike has a full story online in the service computer. then escalate to the ducati representative who will visit every fortnight or so. the key thing is that the parts that were replaced in your engine are covered by 2 years parts warranty - so if you have had the engine rebuild done in that time you are still covered! if the dealer, and the local rep do not budge, your next port of call is ducati UK - I have their email and post address if you need. if at the end of this process they still wont budge, you have the recurse of raising a demand via a court trial, and if that fails you have the press and media. its time to be patient, make alternative arrangements and keep stress down, the dealer is a company, ducati is a company, you are a single-own-man, they have the funds and the means to sort it out, your job is to put your case and facts to them, I am sure they will be able to offer some kind of "compromise". bugs.
UPDATE: I had a call back from someone at the dealer a moment ago. He agreed that 2 engines gone in 13 months isn't satisfactory. Bike is booked in for next week as Ducati tech is away until then (I though P&H had more than one). I also called the finance company to lodge a complaint about the bike, I have that complaint on hold whilst we wait to see what the dealer does. Either way, however this ends, I will be getting rid and getting a KTM. I will probably float the idea to P&H that they buy the bike off me for the what's left on the finance, then i'll buy a KTM from them (assuming they can get hold of a 990 SMT that I like, I have seen them in there in the past).
What about parting out? Suspension alone should pull a decent amount. I'm only on page 4 so I'll keep reading, and i first read when there was only a couple posts. This thread is grown pretty good. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Had my multi in for service last week and since i was considering selling i asked about trading in and getting a hyper motard or strada. They are allowed by ducati to get aggressive with deals to meet quota so they offered what i owe as trade in and decent price on hyperstrada 821 they have left over. And they would cover the price of the service. Maybe try something like that with them but for a ktm naturally. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Sorry to hear about all your woes mate, thought mine were bad enough. Don't blame you for going to KTM, I may well do the same but I'm stuck with mine for 2 years yet! Ducati are shit and they just rip customers off with sub- standard over priced shit! Hope you get sorted quickly and start enjoying reliable KTM world again!!
What a nightmare. You definitely have a lemon there and strong case for recompense from either Ducati or the dealer. Sad to see another Ducatisti say 'Bye but yeah, understandable... Keep us all posted on developments.
Off she fucks for her diagnosis. Can't wait to get a new bike in the garage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Was just looking at the enduro just now in riders... Bloody massive things.... I thought the normal ones were oversized too... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
Didn't even bother looking at the new bikes in there when I dropped it off. Just wanted to walk away from it as quickly as I could. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yep... Felt that way with an r6 I had.... Couldn't wait to see the back of it.... When I px'd it for my last hyper the lad pulled up with the hyper in the back, unloaded it and I was thinking in my head.... Get it loaded, get it loaded, GET IT LOADED!..... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
