They didn't have the Sun and Mail to spread their message. That's what made the difference and swayed enough floating voters. When was the last time any political campaign backed by the Sun failed to win? Rupert rules, Rupert wants Gove.
God, I hadn't thought of it as deliberately or tactically non-binding. But, if Cameron was that duplicitous, why did he quit rather than just quash it?
Remain had the Guardian, the Independent, the BBC and Sky,and others...I've not seen one single regular commentator or presenter that made a case for Leave. At the very least Rupert had a foot in both camps
The Independent no longer exists as a newspaper. The Guardian was preaching to the converted and has limited circulation. The BBC ? You have to be kidding...
You have to bear in mind that bug business ultimately rules this and every other country. Without money neither States nor political parties survive. And when countries are so massively in debt they are totally reliant on big business to supply jobs to keep the system from going bust.
That's why the Germans are shitting themselves Lots of fantasy written above, it would make a compelling novel. I wonder if anyone has done any proper research after the result, I wonder if any is able to do so on here. Going to make a call... :smileys:
I don't know mate, I'm really not politically astute. But, regardless, the idea of a non-binding referendum feels like token democracy. If the ref gets overturned then what would that say about the political system in the UK? Would it be a nanny state? Would it mean the population of the UK has been used to make a point to the EU? I don't know. I need help understanding this.
its not nanny state,, they are not looking after us man,, they are using us , they dont protect us , they control us ...
You could be correct, we are all just speculating but look at what happened in Scotland. The SNP went from 8(?) MPs to 56 out of 59 MPs at the following general election. First past the post allows that to happen with a minority percentage of the vote.
Theresa May is in all likelihood going to be out next PM. She said in her pitch for the job that the UK would be leaving the EU She also stated she would set up a department to negotiate the UK's terms of exit. She doesn't seem like the kind of person to commit political suicide weeks into the job by going back on this imo Also, some are stating that it will be blocked by parliment. The fact it has to get past parliment should not be an issue. The Conservatives have a majority, many Labour MP's voted Brexit plus some from other parties. An MP may have a difficult time come election time if they block something their constituents voted for. Despite what some are saying, I believe article 50 will be signed. If anybody wants a £10 bet for charity to the contrary, let me know. Andrea Leadsom and Michael Gove are on Andrew Marr in the morning. Should be interesting.
Anyone who attended the same college as Bill Clinton and who claims not to be authoritarian and above-the-law is either delusional ... or lying.
every one who claims to have done the research. quite a few from the poorer areas of britain. nobody has said how this bonanza of free cash is gonna be redistributed. blinkered. if you enjoy the twists and turns of politics get your cerebral round this. interesting read. shame its real.
