Even Clarkson is saying Brexit is a monumental mistake and we need another referndum with the real facts laid out. Never thought i would hear that.
But 75% of MPs wish to remain in the EU. When have MPs ever voted for what a majority of their constituents want?
He wrote a column in the Sunday Times in support of Remain so its hardly a surprise he doesn't favour the result. The prophesies of doom are being wildly over-blown. The economy is stable and will readjust quickly. What is unacceptable is the lack of leadership. Cameron should not have resigned. He's going in 2020 anyway. The country doesn't need to reverse the vote, it needs decisive leadership, not a load of headless chickens running round worrying about their own careers. Cameron has abrogated that responsibility and the Labour Party has chosen a supremely inopportune moment to tear itself apart. That failing is the fault of politicians, not the electorate or the way they voted.
interesting,,, a very high proportion of the demonstrators on the street yesterday were young,,,, strange when only 25% ( reportedly ) of " young " voters bothered to get out of their bed to register their vote ...
thats what happens when you rely on the old when the out campaign focuses on the bull from the EU then fights the campaign with bull of there own but the bright and enlightened excepts the bull that won them the reff is fair game? yip bullshit. we is fooked. anyhoo. all of a sudden my appetite has returned. off to feed the need.
A lot of them cried at the result though, according to a recent poll by the guardian, honestly that's a true poll they did, really scraping the barrel is the Guardian It's was presumably conjured up to justify the outcry from the 'youth' that 'old people shouldn't get a vote'..... Well I'm not exactly old (still the right side of 40), but you know what? At least I have a damn site more respect for my elders than these snotty nosed pussies. What's most annoying by the 'youth' vote is that so far most of the reports, quotes, and interviews I've seen of their reasoning show them to be the most uneducated of the lot. Barely any talk about the economy, or jobs for that matter, most have just talked about: 'still wanting to be classed as European ' - I presume they'll be surprised to find out we're not leaving Europe, but the EU......both entirely different things 'now not being able to work overseas ' - well with that level of education and common sense I'm not surprised. Working overseas is not dependent on being part of the EU. It possibly means it's easier for those with nothing to offer to go and work overseas within the EU....perhaps picking olives in Greece? That's a few of them out of luck then 'not having a European passport' - give me strength 'what will I do without tapas' - I have to agree with the girl who said this, I really like tapas and when we leave the EU and the tapas ban comes in to effect it'll be a very dark day indeed........urggh
Is this another notice that you are going to delete one of the most frequented threads on the Forum. If so why? It is in 'Speakers Corner' which you created for just such discussions. If it needs policing then I understand your frustrations when some get silly. But why threaten to close it, I do not see how you think this is beneficial to the forum and its members.
Clarkson was a vocal Remainian throughout, why should he change his tune now? Also bearing in mind that the vast majority on here thought he was a cock, he's an interesting choice of poster boy. There are no calls to re-run a General Election if you don't get the result you want There are no calls to replay the F.A. Cup final if you team loses Is Novak Djokovic asking for yesterday's tennis game to be replayed? Are the Italians demanding another penalty shootout after last nights result? I now hear the Remainians spouting the rubbish that the 'Leavers' were lied to and the ones they have spoken to would vote a different way today. Absolutely desperate stuff. I haven't changed my mind one bit. The Remainians lost. Get over it.
Stu, If you take your head out of your arse you will see that I have only said I will close the thread if people start getting nasty and abusing each other. All I'm seeing in this thread is that those that voted to leave think they they are right, have the guts to go forward alone believeing the world needs a single UK and this will be the best thing since sliced bread for everyone. Those that voted to remain think that decision was wrong, the leave vote was based on lies and to stay in the EU would be the best thing since sliced bread. And one side is not convincing the other side to change. And we are going round the loop time and again. It's Groundhog Day. This thread isn't making a ha'p'orth of difference one way or another and quite frankly I'm bored with it. That is why I keep asking if we are there yet.
Because There was nothing on the line when campaigning to remain. Remaining was the position of both of the main party leaders Now the referendum result is in, they may well be voting themselves out of a job next election day if they go against their constituents The Gov't position now is to leave. They (Conservatives) will be brave not to go along with that. So you'll take my bet then?
I thought Andrea Leadsom gave a good account of herself on the Andrew Marr program this morning whereas Michael Gove just came across as scheming and duplicitous.
That's a bit nasty in itself, I can't get my head in my arse anymore, I have a bad back I understand your frustrations But it is only a discussion and as things are changing daily it is a good place for debate for all to air there views
