939 SP Termignoni Fitting Is It An Easy Job?

Discussion in 'Hypermotard' started by G4zz4, May 14, 2016.

  1. I have a full Termignoni for my 939sp and would like to hear from anyone that's fitted one themselves. I was contemplating do it myself until I looked at the rear cylinder manifold accessibility, the top nut looks unreachable. Can anyone chime in to say it was either an easy job or given the chance would have had it fitted by the dealer. My worry is getting it halfway stripped only to find out I cant reach that rear cylinder manifold nut and having to reassemble the original to be able to ride it to the dealer for fitting. So DIY? or dealer fit? Which would you recommend?

  2. I would say dealer fit. They have all the electronic gear to set the system up correctly, and you have peace of mind if something goes wrong later.

  3. Doesn't it need setup or an up map?

  4. doesn't the upmap just come on a replacement ecu? can't comment on a hyper, but my full system on my 848 was easy

  5. The system is supplied with an up-map key which, according to the instructions, is just plugged into a socket then follow the onscreen directions displayed on the dash to upload it to the ECU. No need for laptop intervention. It was more the mechanical side that looked a little difficult especially without a lift to elevate the bike. I've decided to have it fitted by the dealer at first service booked for Saturday. Thx for the replies.

  6. Probably the best way.

Or you've got Glen at Moto-V in Colchester. Ex Parkinsons tech, desmosedici trained.

  7. G4zz4 - ordered mine today for my new 939SP.

Do you have to fit mini indicators to avoid the can? If so which ones?

    Cheers.

  8. Smaller ones come with the kit , make sure you have the strap for the silencer in the center otherwise it pulls the silencer to close to the indicator

  9. i have an r&g tail tidy and only have 1/4" between the silencer and the indicator

  10. I bought the LED indicators listed in the Hypermotard brochure. image.jpeg

  14. Can't wait. Did it give any more power of just the perfect sound?

  15. Both mate. Also smoothed out the fuelling.
When I collected the bike after fitting, the service tech told me to be careful! Power wheelies in 1st and 2nd with ease. He said it's now exactly how it should be.
Turns out the up map key needs to be connected to the DDS for installation, even though the instructions give the impression that it can be done by the customer.

  16. Haha. It power wheelies as it is now, I can tug it up in 3rd without much effort. 1st and 2nd are easy.

This thing is a wheelie machine. Far far more poke than my 821.

  17. I'm not really a wheelie type tbh, but when I gave it some beans for the first time after fitting it certainly took me by surprise. It came up quicker than it did stock.

  18. Excellent. I'm definitely the wheelie type, ask everyone at Hyside.

  19. I know the kit comes with a different airbox lid but does it come with a performance filter as well and is the filter smaller?

    Rich

  20. Pretty sure it just came with a new lid for the airbox. From memory removing the tank was the only fiddly part.
