1200 Goodbye Ducati, It's Been Fun.

  1. Today was the day, the Multistrada has been traded for a little black Yamaha MT-10.

The Multi is a great bike but I had constant minor niggles with it, most of them documented on here and it always felt nervous when I started pushing on. As is typical, my last long-ish ride back from Cadwell Park was probably my most enjoyable ride on the bike, but by then the deal was done.

After a short 25 mile ride to cover the 4 miles home the MT is very impressive, naturally I'm following the running-in instructions of no prolonged riding over 6K but the occasional blat is okay, not essential though as cornering is what this bike loves, and it's costing me less a month which I really need, even my insurers gave me some money back even after extracting the admin fee.

Over the next few day's I will get my act together and list my Multistrada spares on here.

  7. I like the mt-10, I test rode one a couple of weeks back: the first Japanese super-naked in a long time and well overdue.

I still find myself hanging out here even though I'm a somewhat jaded Ducati customer. I place more value in this community and its members than I do in the Ducati brand itself.

  11. How many Honda's you got?

  12. At least the Yamaha and multi have an exhaust in the right place.

  13. Zero, well just a new tank/seat unit off an NR750 - that's enough Honda thank you :)

  14. What happened to the rest of the NR then :)

  15. It is a new in box spare part, got it off that clever gezzer who built the Honda 6 GP replicas who had it as a spare for his NR. List price circa £8k, I got it as an EBay bargain :)

  16. Guessed it was an investment :upyeah:

  17. I took the MT10 out for a test ride and was smitten. What a bike - great handling - immense power delivery - superb sound for a standard exhaust when nailed. nice size bike - great ergonomics - fitted me like a glove.
I will sell my KTM 560 and get one of these in a couple of years when the proces drops to around 5k :):smiley::smiley::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::grin::grin::grin:

  18. Thinking of a test of one of these myself, as been said before when the multi works it's brilliant, but having a few niggles, latest being the mot , past with an advisery regarding the back brake Had it bled 3 times over last year , mot chap said it was dangerous only 25%stopping power .So now planning on taking it in once again when I get the chance.

  19. I test rode an MT10 a couple of weeks ago too. A lot to like especially the crossplane engine and I thought with the addition of the tall screen and a few other bits and pieces you could make a cracking all rounder for less than £11k. Deal breaker for me though was the thirst / tank range, I wouldn't even be able to do my usual Sunday morning breakfast loop without a fill up. Let alone go anywher further afield without spending half the time in fuel stations. Shame really as I could probably even get used to the looks!

  20. After 210 miles today the first tank brought on the warning at 95 miles, tank 2 at 107 miles but there was some motorway work in tank 2, with 20-30 miles reserve it's not too terrible, although I do have a smooth riding style this bike already just want's to play and get over on it's ear... I'm very happy with it, i'm even happy with the S20 tyres.

The brakes, they work fine for the road now they're bedded in, the initial bite is a touch soft but the power is there if you need it. Lot's of bikes are like this and 9/10 a pad change is all that is needed, both master cylinders are Brembo so I doubt it's a quality issue with those. In fact the rear brake is fantastic after the Multistrada.

A coffee stop at The Sun Inn, Norwood, not far from RAF menwith hill, the road between the pub and Pool in Wharfedale is pretty good.
