Hi I'm sure this may of been asked loads but here goes I'm prob due a new rear But what tyres are people using I'm on a hyper 821 sp Thanks
I am planning to mount Metzelers M7RR. I have Supercorsas SP but I normally ride in winter too so wil give them a go.
All depends on how you ride and when you ride..... I had Supercorsas on my old ZX6R but felt more confident with Michelin Pilot Power 3s as I never got the Supercorsas hot enough... I felt as confident in the dry on Pilot Road 4s as the Power 3s too.... Michelin may just suit me as I never got on with any Pirelli or Bridgestone front tyre...
Only really ride when it's dry and hot Not really worried about doing miles on them just want something sticky
How do you ride though ? Many people put track day tyres on that work at track temperatures but unless they are being pushed on the road dont grip as well as a less track orientated tyre at road temperatures....
I would go for Pilot Power 3s.... If I was pushing on and feeling like I was riding off the edge of the tyre losing grip and my tyres looked like they'd been on the track after nipping down the road I'd get Power Supersports But as I said I love the nice rounded profile of the Michelin fronts.... I think any modern tyre has enough grip for the road....As said before track day tyres get sticky at track day temps and feel like wood on anything lower on the road in my experience
Got m7rr's on my z1ooo - took them off the rsv4 cos they didn't inspire any confidence, gave out on roundabout exits under literally no power. Transferred them to the z1ooo and put supercorsas back on the rsv4 - just as bad on the zed....wont be buying them or any metzelers again. period. if that's the best they've got to offer then they need to go back to the drawing board...ive got a set of Michelin pilot 2's on the hyper at the moment and theyre much better (and an old tyre technology too).
Might be worth having a look at Michelin Pilot Supersport Evo, I had a set put on my 600rr last week and broke them in, in dry and then monsoon like conditions (and they were great) and took them to Donington yesterday and they were awesome , proper sticky for a road/track tyre.... they are billed as a 50/50 tyre... these are are a step up from Pilot Power 3's which are also very good..
Yep....ive given up reading tyre reviews period and if I do read them I take little or no notice....I bought the m7rr's based on reviews....the review I read pitched them against the supercorsa so based on that I bought a set...fucking no chance....the supercorsa is the top of the pile at the moment. Totally agreeing with anyone that chips in now and says theyre not for wet weather usage...theyre not, but I don't use the thing in the wet unless I get caught out unintentionally...the rsv4 gets supercorsa's now for the foreseeable future unless something knocks its off its perch (which I don't think it will) as they've just been updated and my next rear will be a 200 section too... I bought a load of part used tyres off of my mate last month of all different types which ill be going through. When I bought the hyper a few months back there was a knackered Dunlop on the back and a half decent pr2 on the front. I bought a brand new pr2 for the rear and now in my pile of tyres have a good part used pr2 for the front to go on which will wear the 2 down together then perfectly. Ive a decent Dunlop rear so I ll be getting a new front to match next. Once the metzelers are done on the zed ive got a set of nearly new Avon's to go on that...
Totally agree..... With tyres you just have to suck it and see...If they're not for you then try something else I tried loads and concluded Michelin just give me a better feel with my riding style/setup
I like the pr2 so far the most (forgetting the supercorsa's) as a regular tyre....ill get through all my part used one first (think ive got a set of rosso II's in there as well) and then maybe try some pr4's..
The PR 4s on my ZX6R were awesome....It were like it was on rails regardless of the weather/road conditions..... That's what's going on my Hyper when the Rosso 2s that came on it are past it....
Run M7RRs on all my bikes and love em. I find they get skittish if run too low. Mine are at 38/34 and they stick like glue. Tried at them at 32/34 and had few little step outs.
The 1290 SDR came with Sportsmart IIs. Wasn't keen. Take an age to warm up and in cold weather I wasn't convinced they ever really got there. Lost heat quickly and lacked feel. They are actually very grippy but its a case of learning you can trust them rather than feeling that confidence through the seat of your pants. I prefer a tyre that talks to me.
Supercorsa SP's are the only choice IMO. I ride fast on road, and these things don't take long to get warm and the confidence from them is phenomenal. Also regarding wet riding. I rode my 1299 120 miles in torrential rain, with supercorsa's. Bike was stable as anything, and I wasn't hanging about. The rain was so bad I just wanted to get home fast so cruised m25 at 1xx like a nutter avoiding rain drops as best I could. Tyres were faultless. I'm not saying the supercorsa's are the ideal rain choice here, but they still did the job safely and didn't feel like I'd die at any second.
Yep. Can't wait to get a 200 section on mine to see what the handling differences are... Sent from my SM-P900 using Tapatalk
I agarre about the Supercorsa SP definitely great grip warms up quick ideal for the hyper IMO specially if you ride only on dry.
