Tail Cover Aviacompositi

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by John, Mar 24, 2012.

  1. For those who want to have a cover for the rear seat here's a new option.

The german-austrian Multistrada forum Multistrada.at and Fabio from Aviacompositi Italy cooperated to design a rear seat cover.
The idea was to create a different look regarding to the original rear seat and to give the tail a more sporty look. Aviacompositi offers
different specs like carbon or fiber glass with various options like colours, surfaces etc.

    But take a look...

  2. Nice, thanks for sharing John.....a s quick as I think I've done fettling the Mutley new temptation comes along! lol

  3. I've got a short Carbon windshield from these guys and it's top quality work...

  4. Just seen the prices from a thread over on ducati.ms.

€400 for a lacquered carbon one? I think not

  5. Twin man, can't make head nor tail of the Italian website. Really want one of those screens. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. ojobear - sent you a PM

  7. cheers mate, got it.

  8. Update about prices and specs:

First a photo of the carbon version:

FRP with white primer finish = 278.30 EUR
FRP painted white red black = 484.00 EUR
FRP painted "Italian style" like in the picture in #1 = 580.80 EUR
Carbon fiber - raw, no clear varnish = 350.90 EUR
Carbon fiber clear varnish = 423.50 EUR
Carbon fiber with red or white bands paint work clear varnish (Carbon Style) = 629.20
optional: top and edges black shaded from full black to transparent + 60.50 = 689.70 EUR

    Remark:
For the carbon tails it's possible to take the option "Twill" carbon (diagonal texture) regularly Aviacompositi is using the 3K plain like the Ducati parts are made of.

    Other informations:

All tail covers will be supplied with fixing hooks.
The "Carbon Style" and "Italian Style" tail versions will be serialized and signed.
The FRP covers are produced in unidirectional biaxial glass fiber and high quality epoxy resin.
The Carbon tails are polymerized in an autoclave with aeronautical grade materials and technologies.

If there are some questions left open drop Fabio an email (Contatti)

  10. If you ask me they haven't 'shaped' this item correctly. Looks like it intrudes too much on the rider's seat....

  11. It looks great!!

If i order that item in red it will match the bike color perfectly?
    Thanks

  12. Bob...pop out and take a look at your bike and see how much the pillion seat overlaps the rider's seat (which of course it has to to secure the later in place) ;-)

Piero.........you decided to pop in and check out our new forum as well, bit quiet yet but looking good :D .......welcome! :upyeah:

  13. Think I've seen and worked on my bike enough already to know how much the rear seat overlaps the rider seat.....haven't they changed the design for 2012 so that it doesn't overlap as much?....that new cover only needs the overlap by 1 inch not 2...

I understand that Andy, but I think they could have made it slightly more curved and the flat (facing riders arse) angled upwards more - would have looked better imho and it would still have secured the rider seat....

  14. Ah I see what you're saying now Bob about the shape of the front of the cover.

I guess the overlap is the same as the pillion seat overlap on 2010 / 2011 bikes....which I've just measured at 3 inches (front corner of pillion seat to edge of plastic side panel).
Now if they have a Comfort seat to hand comparison would be easy :D

  15. I agree Andy. It seems to be the same shape like the DP seats. Looks good!

  16. I don't see that John....is it just me???

  17. Hi Bob,

the cover is fitting to both the 2012 seat and the versions prior to that. The overlap is nearly the same like the 2010 and 2011 versions because otherwise it will not cover
the mounting holes of the seat. Maybe this photo will show the overlap of the 2010/2011 a little better.

  18. Yeah OK John, I understand it has to overlap sufficiently to cover the rider seat mounting hole but the Aviacompositi cover is not angled back like the pillion seat which would have definitely looked better imo

  19. Ahh, and now I understand you :)

And I agree. The "back angle" is not the same indeed. I will wait till the first covers are in use and what the riders are telling about.

  20. Never mind the overlap, I just don't think the overall shape of the top surface looks like it belongs on the Multi.
