959 Removing Shock

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by flatstick959, Jul 7, 2016.

  1. Just a quick one - just about to remove my rear shock to send away

Is it best to remove the 3 bolts holding the shock mount to the engine, or simply just remove the large bolt that holds the shock to the mount?

Anyone got any torque settings for the shock bolts also?

    Cheers

  2. Go onto the USA 959 forum. A bloke has uploaded the service manual. It's a big file so can't be posted on a forum.
Someone here will along with the answers, but it would be a handy reference for you for the future.

  8. Did you use an abba stand? Would you have to cut the bottom fairing to get to the hole with the fairing on?

  9. I just take my fairing lowers off to use my Abba, it is a pain but love the stability of the stand. Also is a good excuse to clear out the junk and clean around the front of the pipes

  11. yet another missing bolt...

a fairing bolt fell out the other day (moto rapido got one to me the next day) and while cleaning the bike with fairings removed noticed the cooling fan support bolt (goes in the engine sump) had fallen out along with the spacer and washer... luckily had a suitable replacement.

  12. Lost a rear caliper bolt somewhere on my Assen trip!

  13. When do you hope to get the shock back on the bike?

  14. Hot abba stand tip. Of you just want to clean wheels and chain etc. Loosen all the lower fairing bolts including the front v section ones. Put some electrical tape over the edge of fairing near swing arm holes and you can get the abba stand in without removing the fairing panels or all the bolts.
