  1. best stuff ive used is squaddy gortex..................its an two piece oversuit obviously but i do have a spada 1pc system suit £150 check it out i used it for commuting into sheffield
Spada System Waterproof Suit - FREE UK DELIVERY
this one is priced at 199 but you can get them for about 150

  2. I have teknic waterproof textile jacket and trousers so far so good
Got caught in a rain storm going to Swindon I had to stop under one of the bridges the only fatality was my phone as the rain went into pocket.
Inside I was dry and toasty 
Cost me £200 for the both

  3. Only over 2 grand if you buy it in rip-off Britain. I've got it down to about £1400 so far (from Europe) and I'm convinced I can get it cheaper yet. That puts the price at the same sort of level (if not cheaper than) Rukka bought in the UK.

I'm not worried about the Touratech label - the suit is made by Stadler in Germany and they consistently win Motorrad (Germany's answer to Bike magazine) clothing awards. I've got a HG Master IV jacket and pants and they started to wear in only 6 months (and HG wasn't interested when I complained). At 5 years old, the HG suit (though still waterproof) is ready for retiral. I imagine that the Stadler suit will easily last 10 years due to its incredibly well thought out design and advanced materials, so that would make it very good value.

As for having to put waterproofs on - I would usually have to in the summer if I was wearing my leathers, and in the winter I'd just leave it all zipped together anyway. In fact, I'd try leaving it all zipped together in the summer and seeing how good the vents are before even thinking about taking it apart. I'll do some kind of report once I've got one and tested it for a while.

  4. Looks like you've done some thorough research Mac and you make some good points re practicality/quality/use which coupled with the Euro price make your interest understandable.......rip-off Britain, how is that £600 markup justified?! (surely mostly down to Touratech?!)
Look forward to your feedback/review once you have the suit ;-)

  5. Lots of good stuff there, but how about the not so good? Alpinestar gortex trousers, warm, good fit for me, but the first time they got used in anger, they let in water around the zip area. Very embarrassing, looked like I peed me self!

  6. I've got a Dainese Hogun waterproof oversuit, bought it slightly oversized to make getting it over my leathers a bit easier. First time i used it was a 4 hour ride down to Cornwall in pouring rain the whole way. I was lovely and toasty warm and bone dry inside. Round £80 or so from a dealer though i got mine off evilbay for abour half that :upyeah:

  7. Being "that time of year", thought a quick resurrection of this thread may be useful to others (and me after some experience with winter gloves).

my old school ways involve liner gloves, big thick cheapo leather gloves, with petrol station diesel overgloves. As I can these days afford a pair of winter gloves, anybody got decent recommendations?

    cheers,

    pete

  8. I think we should have a new thread of peoples experience of their kit, short and sweet, pros/cons.

  9. Good man , blade, I like your volunteering. Assume you will get the new thread started ASAP.

    :upyeah:

  10. Hi Keba,

sure you don't have to ride too far to test your cold weather gear, though.

For temperature, I work on a principle of layers, I.e. plenty of thin ones, and has so far worked for me when skiing. But waterproof on a bike is a holy grail for me, but never bought decent textile stuff, always wore leathers with oversuit (old school and believe the skid resistant properties of leather far outweigh the practicality of textiles - but that's just me).

  11. I usually wear my thermal top plus Ducati long sleeve top plus my Ducati hoody then my textile jacket ontop
I always wear my tights under my textile trousers over my boots to stop the wind and rain
    Have thick buffalo waterproof gloves
I feel the cold especially when I get tired

  12. Yeah, thermals for me, too. Never thought about the under boots vs over boots idea, but makes sense. Can't do it when keeping leathers on, though.

Just ordered some posh alpinestars winter gloves, so hoping to give them a try out this weekend (but may wuss out and use the car if looking too miserable)!

  13. Tucked in for leather and out for textile my trousers have elastic to keep them in place.

Think the forecast is looking ok for weekend :)

  14. Aye, just don't want to tempt fate!!! Quietly getting rucksack sorted, hopefully out of sight of the grand weather lord of the skies.

Not got textiles, just old school leathers n boil in the bag rain suit.

  15. :-D

  16. I have Halvarssons kit with the "bear" underlayer (jacket and trousers) and interchangeable mesh / semi-mesh / waterproof top layers as used by the boys in blue. It is the most waterproof, warm quality gear I have owned. The kit is relatively heavy for walking about, and the hip protection feels a little strange when you first put it on, but whilst riding it is brilliant.

  17. Well, having ridden a good few hundred miles over the weekend in dry weather until I hit Swansea on Saturday evening, I hoped not to test the FT oversuit, or the waterproof ness of the a-star 'drystar vega' gloves, but alas they got tested good and proper.

hail, rain and a flooded M4 were my joys for an evil prior life, presumably. But, with enough layers on, I was just warm enough (skin top, 2 t shirts, thin jumper, leather jacket and single layer oversuit with just boxers and leathers on the bottom half ( with ski socks under the a-star smx waterproof boots)).

The suit kept me dry, the gloves held water tight, as Did the boots. Don't think the gloves would have lasted long sub zero, though, as pinkie tip was getting a little numb after an hour or so.

HJC FS11 lid with pinlock kept mist free, too (but chin deflector flapped off in the breeze!)

  18. I quite liked this jacket... until I saw this advert!!!! I think its the pubic beard which gets me most!
    Give me a "G".. give me a "I".. give me an "N"...

(this post is not intended to offend those who have a specific colour scheme and feel that this model is in any way handsome)

... still, at least there is a DUCATI in the picture
