So the UK is to buy 9 planes and 50 helicopters from Boeing for UK Armed Forces. And you thought this would be impossible post Brexit, did you? You're living in a dream world.
We were expecting an election - with the electorate restricted to 100K Conservative Party members - for the next PM. Now it appears it will be a coronation, rather like the appointment of Gordon Brown as PM in 2007 which process was (if I remember rightly) roundly condemned by all the same Tories who thoroughly approve of this week's process.
We buy many planes manufactured outside of the UK at the moment. I'm sure the Gov't insisted that these jobs were located in the UK as part of the deal, so what. The point being that the end of the world hasn't happened, as much as you'd like it to as you are bursting to say "I told you so". I'd rather live in my dream world than your frustrated, bitter one.
I'm sure you have pointed out before that the elecorate elect a government not the PM. But Gordon Brown's was a better example of a "coronation" because his token rival was John McDonell who had insufficient nominations to trigger a vote Mrs May has in contrast competed with 4 rivals and faced a vote.
Of course the "end of the world" hasn't happened. All we have had so far is a non-binding vote. The UK is still a member state of the EU and will continue to be for at least two years. What markets have shown so far reflects today's estimates of the risks which may eventuate at some point in the future. No-one knows how events will develop. Brexit may never happen. Or it may be postponed for many years. Or it may happen technically, but with the single market four freedoms, contributions, and passporting etc. still in place. Or there is the risk of early exit happening, with loss of all facilities and consequent catastrophe. As always, markets price in hopes and fears, risks and possibilities. If you imagined that anyone thought, or said, that a Leave vote would by itself cause the immediate "end of the world" then you are in your dream world again. It would be the period after actually leaving the EU with total loss of all facilities which would be disastrous, and that may not happen for several years, or never.
Quite right. In the UK system, the PM is not and has never been required to be directly elected. The point I was making is that some of the same people who roundly condemned the process in the case of Gordon Brown now excuse it in the case of Theresa May. This what is technically known as "hypocrisy". We shall find out in due course whether Mrs May calls an early general election, or hangs on until 2020 - as Mr Brown hung on until 2010. I speculate that the people who harshly criticized Mr Brown for hanging on will excuse Mrs May if she does the same.
Everyone in the UK should have watched the BBC2 programme last night about the exodus of refugees from Syria. Imagine fleeing your country as life there is pointless and involves simply finding water that you can drink and avoiding the shells being fired at your village. Many are educated people with much to offer the world but their country is being bombed to oblivion by foreign governments, their own government and insurgents. They don't care whether they live or die as life there no longer has any purpose unless you want to kill others. Watch it on iplayer and part two tonight and be educated yourself.
It is a terrible situation butch did you post that in the correct thread, to me it is totally irrelevant to wether we are in or out of Europe? Am I missing something?
as a politician i think you sure are,,, ( rightly or wrongly ) the major political issue in Europe is one of immigration,, where are many / most of these people coming from, and why ?,, ask yourself ..
Immigration is the primary reason many voted Out with those same many not fully understanding the situation. The fact so many are being displaced in the middle east and eastern Europe is a direct result of UK and USA government policy in the last 15 years.
Not on my list of reasons, I am anti the EU establishment and I would think most voted for this reason.
i am afraid that you are preaching to the converted there mate,, this information has been available to those who can see throo the smoke for many years now,, but still there are those who will deny or simply just not see,,,, as someone quoted the other day,, " there are none so blind as those who will not see "... ( not to worry tho,, Exige is on the job now )
no. this is will be nirvana. your in cloud cuckoo land. if it where all about the lack of democracy you would be campaigning for some form of PR and reform or abolishion of the H.O.L. you know, getting rid of the unelected likes of michelle mone and co. but i guess with her being pretty (once) you wouldn't be to fussed
