Hi Guys, I haven't had my 848 long and I'm looking to get my suspension set up at Harris Performance in Hertford. I have been discussing steering dampers with them and I believe this is a mandatory mod. I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a steering damper as the guys at Harris are straight for Ohlins, which seems a little costly right now... Or is a second hand Ohlins just worth the £300? Thoughts and opinions welcome!
Afternoon pal, I also got my 848 a few months back and knew I needed a damper, I couldn't believe how expensive the ohlins was even second hand. I did abit of searching and found a 2nd hand LSL on eBay. It's perfect has 7 settings and it's already saved me once as some stupid person in a 6.3slk thought he could jump me a lights. He didn't but in second gear front went light and whipped back and fourth but damper sorted it. I have just done a quick Google and this was first hit so have a look into it. I haven't got a pic on my phone but I'll post one when I'm home. LSL Motorcycle Steering Damper Ducati 848 2008-2010 - Titan ★★ FREE UK Delivery | FREE UK Returns Stu.
Never felt that my 848 needed a damper. £300 for a damper if you want one is fine, at least a steering damper has a function. Some people spend hundreds of pounds on carbon fibre which saves a few grams of weight and does nothing.
That looks nice! I have managed to bag a second hand Ohlins one for £100, so hopefully after a service it should be ok. I'm going to have to retro fit a bracket though! Has anyone done this yet?
