So currently looking at insurance for my 899 and have noticed the 'Ducati Security System' on the list of security items; do you know if this is the standard immobiliser or is it something else? TIA!
So what is the built in imobilizer called/classed as? I assume as the key needs to be coded its an imobillizer?
The standard inbuilt immobilizer DOES count on insurance - just like a standard car one would. It certainly did for my insurance through Ducati. Also, the BikeTrac counts towards insurance, but not as much as it costs. Unit is £299 (+ installation) and then £99 per year.
OK, so for example, on my 999 when searching for the inbuilt OEM immobiliser with MotorCycle Direct I get these options, is it "Ducati Security Sy"?
I specified the generic "Ducati Security System" - I'm suspecting the others might be Add-On's that Ducati produced judging by the numbers. My bike was 2016 grand new.
That's what I chose on the ground it's s security system fitted by Ducati. Even if it was in the factory when the bike was built.
I did the same , insurance wouldn't cover me without a security system so I named the Ducati imobiliser and it was accepted.
I just selected 'ducati security immobiliser' as that's what the insurance company said was fitted as standard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I spoke to an alarm fitter yesterday. He said the Ducati immobilizer that comes OEM is not insurance approved. If you look at the screen shot I put on it doesn't say "Thatham n" so to me that kinds of adds up.
