1299 Suspension. Upgrades

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by 749er, Jul 11, 2016.

  1. So what's the consensus of opinion on the best suspension upgrades?

    Bitubo
    K-tech
    Ohlins
    Others?

Am not keen on all the automatic suspension on a sports bike.

  2. An upgrade for your 749R ? A professional rebuild and sprung/revalved to your weight and riding style will IMO be much more cost effective. The Ohlins on my 748R were like chalk and cheese after a £150 rebuild with new K Tech springs (Ohlins doesn't make the spring any more). Andy

  3. No, for a 1299 Panigale.

The suspension on the 749R is just fine, which is why I would rather buy a base 1299 and treat it to some real good quality suspension, rather than buy an S with all the electronic stuff that can go wrong.

Am thinking of buying something newer...

  4. Would help if I looked at the prefix . I bought an Ohlins cartridge kit from a forum member to upgrade a set of 1098 Showas. Still to fit them to my track bike but I have high hopes for them. KTech do cartridge kits as well. As a general rule unless the bike is very high spec and expensive, after market kit from the manufacturer tend to be better quality than the equivalent OE kit. Andy

  5. Mupo seem to be getting popular and are highly regarded if you want to be a little different, you wont go far wrong with Ohlins r&t stuff and the resale price will be better.

  6. Anyone tried Nitron or K-Tech suspension on a base 1299? They seems to be a bit cheaper than Öhlins.

  7. The k tech stuff gets great reviews and seems to be well priced. It also gets reviewed as being much easier to set up than Ohlins.

A K- Tech Shock as used by Guy Martin on the TT or Gino Rea in WSS is less than £1k

    OHLINS TTX is £1300

  8. K tech on base front & back & love it

  9. Do you have a link or partnumber to the front parts?

  10. I've heard a bunch of people recommending K-Tech lately. Seems it's more suited to our bumpy roads whereas the Ohlins is more suited to racetrack smooth surface.

Fwiw I'm completely sold on the auto suspension for the road. I've been really enjoying what seemed like very smooth new routes on the BMW for a month or two and they were bumpy as hell on the Panigale this week and not fun at all.

  11. Lots of racers use ktech fronts, although ohlins rear.

  12. Love my k tech stuff front and rear great on the road and track

    FF cartridge 25 IDS 108001
& again these are for the base with the Marzocchi forks. Haven't gotten around to playing with them much but with the current setting it made such a big difference at the track.
