Whilst very concerning that a military coup was staged in the first place, I must admit I'm just as concerned (if not more) with the actions of Erdogan since. He's showing an air of paranoia, and if it's not paranoia you have to ask yourself why 2700 judges within Turkey no longer wanted to be part of the Erdogan ideology. It seems he's now just locking up anyone he can while still having enough people to run a government. It smells like a dictatorship to me, admittedly put in power by democracy, but turning in to a paranoid dictator none the less
Erdogan is a dictator. And the majority of those involved in the democratic process that put him there realised what was happening long ago. The trouble is they are seemingly powerless now to try and oust him democratically/legally as he's changed laws to ensure he can remain in power ad infinitum without being challenged. Added to which he's surrounded himself with thugs to do his dirty work for him that goes unreported in the mainstream media. It's Putin all over.
if it sounds flippant or like i am trying to trivialize it then well, what can i say. but this shit has been going on since day one.but now with countless 24hr news channels and smartphones beaming every bit of pish in a world of 7bill people in to our conscious . that's potentially a lot of pish with only about 0.00000000001% within the general populations control. thats where the true paranoia comes from. then you will get people like me that suggest maybe our foreign policy in the past and present may have contributed to the troubles around the world. apparently that makes me paranoid ?. :Hilarious:.
This won't help,(assuming there's a grain of truth in it of course): URGENT - Turkey Incirlik Air Base - FOX Carolina 21
Yep. That's about the size of it. A familiar scenario to Europeans. A further similarity to European dictators of the past is Erdogan's mad lust for imperial expansionism. He has told Turks that they have a duty colonise Europe, to repopulate it with Muslims and to re establish the Ottoman Empire. He's a nutter.
