939 SP Well That Didn't Last Long

  1. Have you installed the up map?

  2. I've fitted levers recently. But that doesn't interfere with the rear brake and the front is fine. That also wouldn't affect the running. You can 'hear' that it's not right.

Still keeping my fingers crossed for crap fuel.

  3. Yes. The up map is installed. If you don't the MIL light will stay on.

  4. Assuming here you did all the fit yourself ? You did all the up map part yourself ? Does it need any further initialisation to be fully loaded .
When you first did the fit everything was working well ?
The power is still good if you give it a thrashing ... it's just a light load thing.....
Did you have to lift the tank to do the fit ? Does it have a ' dry fuel break ' type connector .... is it all the way home , could any pipe of got pinched refitting tank
Does it have a barometric sensor under the tank ?

  5. Ignition coil would bring on the light. But bad spark plug wouldnt.

  6. Sounds fuel or spark related, I'd take everythung off and refit again if I had just changed something and it wasnt like it before. Pinched pipe could be a good call and easy check, or maybe a breather pipe not put back on/properly

  7. It happened about a month after fitting the exhaust. I'm confident that's not the issue. The dealer took care of the upmap as you can't do it without their diagnostic machine. They've listened to it but couldn't book me in until Tuesday lunchtime. It's got worse on the way home. It's definitely missing now and when I nailed it to overtake a car it just bogged down and backfired. It also reached 105 degrees riding through town to get home. Something it's never done before.

  8. Is it easy to get a plug out?

  9. I can get the front one out. But as its mostly noticeable under load it's going to be difficult to try. Would be interesting to see what condition the plug is in though.

  10. Front cylinder is easy. Rear not so much.

Mine hits 104c regularly in long traffic.

You try unplugging the front ignition coil with it running to listen for any change in engine sound. Although this will trigger a misleading fault code.

  12. If you've been using it in all this lovely rain we've been having then i'd give the coils and wires around the headstock a good soaking of gt85

  13. well i took it in on tuesday to 'have the parameters reset'

but the time i got home it was as bad as ever. gave them a call and the soonest they can look at it is 2nd august. imho it's dangerous to ride. on a long slow 2nd or 3rd gear bend the engine starts to die, give it a tiny bit more on the throttle and nothing happens, then without warning the engine will clear and it takes off like a rocket shit mid bend. driving through town on occasions it kangaroo's like a bucking bronco.

i'm getting pissed off with it now as it's my only transport for a 35 mile round trip to work. there isn't even any public transport available.

  14. I can't believe this. Resetting adaptions does F all to fix a fault, the fault will always reoccur.

These Ducati dealers all seem to be full of 'factory trained technicians' that haven't got a clue, and the service departments never seem too interested in helping out.

I think I'd be escalating this to Ducati UK. The dealer should be taking your bike back in instantly in my opinion. Making you wait again is totally unacceptable.

  15. Not too familiar with the model....But where's the ecu? Is it grounded ok?

  16. ...and the dash says 'Hypermotard Racing'?

  17. Ecu is under the seat and yes. Hypermotard racing

  18. I'd be enclined to get a local specialist to look at it instead of a dealer. Solely to get myself on the road ASAP, at least the initial diagnostics part can be carried out and you can do some remedial work yourself once you have direction from the diagnostic machine.

  19. My 848 was doing a similar thing. Turned out to be an oil leak, where the oil had leaked into the plug 'tube' causing it to short out on one cylinder.

  20. Tank on these arn't easily removed to check the vertical plug, plan a couple of hours of a job start to finish and be carful to seat the fuel line correctly in its recess, two man job really. If you decide to have a go. also syphon all fuel out 1st to make it a bit easier. can be done on your own as i did, but would have been easier with a spare set of hands to hold things. I might have a PDF of the instrustions for removal if you need them?
Have you tried diss-connect the battery for ten mins and re-connect?
