749 749r Prices....

  1. So, do where do we think they should be? I fancy one again but can't seem to put my finger on the right amount to pay.

I'm thinking about 6k? Plastic fairing models less.

About right? This is ignoring speculative pricing and dealers who just want a showroom bike!

  2. You are probably under budgeting by £2.5k for a 2005 face lift plastic fairing with provenance. IF you can find a 2004 carbon model expect to pay more than you have in your piggy bank. Private sellers seem to expect (genuine) dealer prices today. Saw a very nice example of an 05 face lift model in Moto Rapido several months ago priced at £8495 but that is long gone. Andy

  3. that was a lovely bike. I was ogling it when my mum came in with my little lad and started taking a very close interest in it. I was very politely asked to keep him at arms length, the salesman had a bead of sweat on his forehead. Don't blame him.

  4. FWIW, I paid £8.7k for my '04 nearly two years ago. I reckon I paid (knowingly) slightly over the odds but for a machine with good history, a shed load (well, largeish box) of spares, the now unobtainium full 57mm Termi and a proper Moto Rapido remap to match. It's a long-term keeper so I was reckoning that values will bump along for a while then rise steadily. These are very special machines indeed.

  5. 2 years ago, I paid 9k for a brand new, well 600mile old carbon 749r.

I'm looking for something with about 10k on it, to use and enjoy. I won't consider a plastic faring bike. There's a few about with full systems, re-maps etc, from #5.5-8k... Just hard trying to screw prices down. Private sales.

  6. It's been a very long time since I saw anything at 5.5, if ever. Just checked (DUCATI 749 R - How Many Left? 101 left in the UK, of which about 30 are taxed.

  7. Hmmmm, so if I want an R I'd better get saving now. Still cheaper than a new 959 I suppose and a heck of a lot cooler.

  10. Glad to see you've come to your senses Chris...a wise decision.

  11. There is a massive gulf between what a bike is perceived to be worth or advertised at, to what offers you receive. Guess its how much the seller really wants to sell it and how much the buyer is willing to pay, quite unique market for the R models.

  12. You started the thread by saying u thought 6k, u have now found one for 7.5k that u like, I think you have answered your own question ;-)

Personally I think you need around 7.5-8k for one that's not been mucked around with now.

  13. There's a couple that are at the price I originally mentioned.

I like this one as its been looked after, full system, properly setup etc. Not messed around with.

  14. If I was in the market for a carbon 749R I would be giving this a serious look.
