No they haven't. And the current government is about to make the State pension part of the benefits system and eventually means tested. The value of my pension is not the issue though as it's worth diddley squat anyway now. It's the fact I won't be able to choose where I want to retire that pisses me off.
I don't want to retire in a cold wet expensive country. Sadly it seems we will have no choice unless we are fabulously wealthy.
Dont think you will be stopped from retiring anywhere, as long as you have the funds to support yourself. That is no different to today
