Hi. New 900ss owner here from Hove, Sussex. Picked up my '96 900ss last week. Previously owned a 750ss about 4 years ago and always regret selling it. I'm a Honda man normally and have restored and recommissioned many cb500/550/750's over the years. Here's a pic of the 900 and a few of my other bikes...
Hi James, you kept that quiet on the SOHC forum!, I decided to "come out" about having one , it's in "other bikes", cracking looking bike btw, cheers MarkCR750.
Hi Mark. Apologies, only just saw your reply. Yeah, always had a hankering for another ss and finally got one. Lovely bike. Strange clutch noise though on initial power take-up. J
Hi James, A mate of mine has restored many 500/4's and has a new zero mile one in his living room built entirely of new parts he collected over 30 years
Hi James , when I took mine for its belts and full service the specialist mentioned that there is a bearing that he often has to replace, he took the clutch out of mine to clean it and measure the plates and said the bearing was fine, but it could be worth checking that ?, mine doesn't make a strange noise when pulling off but makes plenty of em in neutral! PS please don't tell the SOHC forum how good these bikes are they'll all want one!.
Ha ha we'll keep it as our little secret. Lovely bikes to ride imho..refreshing change to the 500/750's...
Maybe, that said I discovered last night that 50miles is all my boney ass can take in a single run, 45 miles no problem, 47 miles discomfort , 50 miles oh Christ I've gotta get off!, so the journey would entail a lot of stops!.
That makes me feel better although i can manage 70 miles before i have to get off,i did 200 miles in a day a few weeks ago,i felt like i had been in solitry with mr big for the day.
Derby, if you think an SS is comfortable try an XJR1300, you'll think you're on a Rolls Royce!, not as much fun as the SS though!
Um... Just stumbled across this thread to find i'm not the only James H in Sussex... There can be only one  Welcome!
