749 749 Genuine Hugger

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Mongoose, Jul 18, 2016.

  1. So I've been lucky enough to pick up a genuine Ducati Performance carbon fibre long reach rear hugger boxed with the part number kinda etched into the underneath of it. So it'll fit perfect right ? Wrong. Or is it? Once I removed the rear wheel all the bolt holes all lined up perfectly although now the hugger sits around 5mm from the top of the tyre which I'm not to sure about and the chain guard part of it totally misses the top part of the chain and if I'm honest the quality is kind of not up to what I would expect from a genuine part accessory. I've nothing against pattern parts. I've got a carbon front mudguard and key guard from carbonmoto and the quality is alot better. Both items fit perfectly and have a much better gloss finish. I could possibly raise the hugger by using some washers as packers but being a genuine accessory I assume it would fit without any modifications. If anyone has a long reach hugger fitted could they possibly share a photo so I can see what kind of clearance there should be from the tyre and chain guard then that'll be great. image.jpeg image.jpeg

  2. Which size tire are you using? 180/55 or 190/50? I had to space out my short DP hugger with a 180/55 and it's still a pretty close fit - which looks nice IMO.

Do you have a photo of the part number? To me that does not look like a real DP part.

  4. If I recall correct I put two M6 washers on the rear left mount and one on the second one. It was touching the tire before that. Your wheel position (chain adjustment) will also affect that.

  6. Yup , that's really helped @jack999s . Ive just adjusted mine by loosening the inner alloy key bolt and moving the hugger up by 5mm. Definitely a much more clearance on the tyre but still not to good on the chain guard part. This is the part number on the inside of the hugger and assume the build date is 2008.
