959 Fluid Level

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by evoarrow, Jul 19, 2016.

  1. Anyone got any tips on how best to see the fluid level through the plastic slip under the fairing above the front wheel. It's difficult to see if it full or empty. Tried shinning bright torches, natural light, upright etc.

  2. I'd love to know the answer to that one for my 999 as well! I find the window totally useless with all my attempts to use it so far.

  3. Because the window thingy is kind of vague, I had to pull the fairing off to check. Bit of a pain.

  5. I have same problem, tried shining torch in to window but still can't see anything. Must be OK as it hasn't overheated yet!

  6. Short answer is you cant see it. Its a pain in the arse.

  7. I think the only way is to remove the fairing which is pretty quick once you get the hang of it. Fwiw if you remove the plastic to the side of the ignition cover it makes it easier and less likely to break the L tabs on the fairing. That bottle is the overflow bottle as well so if you're going to the trouble of taking the fairings off then it's worth checking the rad itself at the same time.

  8. Yes, I undo one bolt at the ignition switch cover, definitely helps.

The overflow bottle lid is tight, you can just about get the lid off. I am assuming to fill the Rad and bottle, a small diameter rubber pipe can be used to top up, otherwise I think you are into removing the front fairing.

  9. I unclip the pipe coming from the rad cap to the reservoir and use it like a u-tube to check the level. You can't see shit through the window.
