Booked into Inters 2 with No Limits. Weather looking good... I wonder if Shakey and Keanu will show up like last time?? Anybody else going? R
Packing for Spain so sadly not. Hope you have a great day . 70mm system with baffles again ? Be interesting what they register on a good weather day. Andy
Have a good trip! 70mm system with baffles is de riguer for Brands! My mate got pinged for 103 on his bog standard RC8 last time! Crazy!
I was there yesterday and in your group. My 848's long gone now I was on a Daytona 675 track bike( like about 1/3 of the bikes there!!!). Saw you out on track bike looked lovely. Ive just been watching some footage where I'm following you for a good few laps. There were a few Dukes in our group, i followed an 1198s for a few laps and he was leaving black lines out of every corner, and I passed an 848 a few times who most definitely wasn't leaving any anywhere!!!
Christ, that 848 was downright dangerous! All over the place and quite a bit slower than everybody else! Lovely day, and you're right, there were tons of Daytona's out there! Apologies if I got in your way...still getting used to the beast! R
HaHa no you weren't in my way. you were one of those that i would catch into and round the corners a bit and id even get a little alongside you then you'd open up onto the straights and id have to do it all again!! Anyway I enjoyed ogling your bike for a bit. Yeah that guy was way to slow for inters, he'd probably be one of the slowest in Novice, Luckily every time I caught him his lines were fairly predictable so always safe and easy to pass. Rather that than someone who's only a little slower but all over the place. When I've uploaded the vids ill put a link on here.
Just uploaded a couple of vids. Ricky in the first one you're in front of me for a good couple of laps towards the end of the vid and in the second one you're there right from the beginning.
Ooooer...outgunned by a 675....! Me tyres were going off! @G-man Nice vid, thanks. Note to self: get on that fookin' throttle and stop fannying about!
Haha I'll swap bikes if you want?! There were a couple of other sessions I didn't record where you would open up coming out clearways and just disappear. Your corners entry's were really tight slowing you down a lot and wouldn't let me get up the inside and I wasn't fast enough to go outside. Seriously though I'll swap bikes if you really want to?
I think your video footage is an object lesson for many of us track day warriors. The quicker riders all took similar lines, all seemed to brake at similar points and for me, showed how to get past a slower rider safely for which thanks. My only comment is that your entry into Surtees seemed relatively slow and you came off the throttle quite early. We shared a garage with a Scandinavian lad who was racing in the 600 stock series and he took Surtees at full chat which was amazing to watch but impossible to emulate. I do think Surtees is a lot faster if you take a later wide entry at the start of Clearways. Fair play to you though, some really good skills . Andy
yes, Surtees late entry for both Indy and GP. On the Indy circuit, I take the CSS late entry, but watching the BSB guys, they're all on the right-hand curb asap. Incredible
I was aware that my entry to Graham Hill and Surtees had been creeping too far to the left over the last few trackdays I have done (on 749R)...on this trackday, I was making a conscious effort to try to approach them wider to the right but was obviously failing dismally! Also...I hate to say it but...I prefer the compliance on the Ktech forks I have on my 749R - they soak up the undulations better than the FG353's I have on the 1098R. This gives me additional confidence in the corners as I know that they "move around" more whereas the 1098R compression damping is much stiffer. Question: the FG353's have high speed and low speed compression damping...which one deals with "undulations"??
but they have big power and want it stood up, likely you want corner speed (am guessing) so slingshot out the corner
watching the vid you are waaaay too tight into paddock Ricky, you should be a foot or so from the outside when tipping in. you paid for it, use all the track
Yeah...got into some bad habits! Plus getting more risk averse as I age (cost of bike vs previous off at Clearways...)
