Anyone owned or can advise me on a mint 2004 Suzuki SV 1000 Twin? Fella down local pub is giving up bikes as he's just had a kid and Mrs is on his case! He's got a mint 5,000 miler in silver with war and peace history, brembo brakes with waves, micron exhausts,Gixer pillion seat hump, removed rear footrests and a few other trick bits! Engine is standard and unmolested, sounds amazing and not a mark on it! I was thinking about a cheap summer reliable hack and he's asked me £1200! Any advice, ideas etc please
Buy it, it's easily worth double that. My mate paid £2600 for a low mileage 2006 bike in mint condition that came with straight touring bar riser kit and standard parts. It was the best deal available at the time, I guess you know it's a steal at that price anyway and your just showing off :Finger:
I thought it sounded cheapest but genuinely didn't know it is a "steal"? There don't seem to be many low milers about that haven't been bastardised by street fighter loons! That's why I like the sound of it cos the bits that have been done to it are reasonably tastefull and the brembo are a desirable add on
i had one for 4 years. Fixings are made of cheese but if it has been well maintained should be ok. Throttle bodies can go out of sync, making it feel lumpy at 3-4K, especially on a constant throttle. Brakes are pretty good, suspension not too bad. It will sound awesome with microns, and probably spit flames on the overrun. At £1200, it's a deal, it's a steal, it's the sale of the fkng century...
If I decide not to buy it and someone on here fancies it as a cheap spare ride I will put you in touch with him for a sensible drink!
Thanks! He did say something about it recently having some trick throttle set up fitted as the standard ones are made of marzipan
Let me give it a blast down road this weekend and if it ain't a keeper for me - I will take a very friendly £250 short profit for a no messing deal. I gotta have a small drink on it or I won't be able to sleep?
My old dad taught me to always leave room for the next to have a profit! There's 35K 2003 clunkers on gumtree for £2650! At £1650 there's a holiday left in it?
I will stick it on e bay with some Patrick Lichfield photos,a flowery description and start it @ £999 - watch it make 2+ shots
There's a terrible sickness in this country whereby people/buyers hate to give a seller a profit? Doesn't happe
Happen in most other countries. Its a bit like expensive luxury cars getting keyed up and vandalised here.In the USA when people see a luxury ride they say one day I'm gonna be a success and own a motor like that ! Sad but true
Can't help myself! I take double my usual profit from friends and family cos they feel it's perfectly OK to sit at my Christmas dinner table and bitch that the car you sold them 11 months and 25,000 miles ago has been a nightmare cos they had to part with £75 for a new battery and a set of pads! Hahaha
Well its a bargain so buy it. But if its a mate, or even some lose mate fom the pub, with a kid and loads of bills, surely if you dont want it you will let them know its worth more. Wont you?! The world is a shit place when peolpe wont do exactly that.
