  1. Oulton. He was on the white 899 in my garage royal

  2. The R has akros fitted that look after market but arent

  3. That's correct. But the 899 o/e exhausts are not Termi's.

  4. The noise problem is the one thing stopping me getting an 899 Panigale at the moment. Right now I have a 2010 zx6r track bike and have no problems with noise, but I want an 899 to use as a road bike and to do trackdays aswell. Ive spoken to a couple of people at trackdays running 899's and they all say noise testing is a pain.

I'm I right in saying if I keep the stock exhausts on I should be ok for most trackdays, bar low noise days ? Bearing in mind my local circuits are Donington, Cadwell and Mallory

  5. Donnington is fine even on quiet days in most cases. Cadwell you should also be fine as that's 105dB which is borderline without baffles. Mallory you'll likely have problems as that's a quiet track but people do manage it at times.

It depends a lot on how fast you ride. If you're in Novice group or lower inters and have standard cans then you should be fine even at all the MSV trackds like Brands, Oulton, etc. If you are pretty fast and constantly at high RPM then you may start to trip the noise meters on these tracks. Brands is the strictest and there was a 1299 with stock cans running yesterday no problem in Novice group as they let you fail the static test and try the drive by. Non stock cans , termis or Akros they dont even let you out now. An R wasn't allowed out yesterday at Brands.

  6. I can sell you a very reasonable Euro4 exhaust to fit to an 899! ;)

  8. The guy had taken the Termi badges off and they spotted it still. It was his third time there in the last year and the first time he'd not been allowed out.

  9. The problem is I cant justify the best part of £10K on a bike I'm gonna struggle doing trackdays on, that's where I have the most fun on a bike and I don't do mega road miles.

Looks like I'm gonna have to have a hard think. I'm happy to keep the stock cans, bike still looks good with them on. Abit annoying as Ive wanted a Panigale since they came out!

  10. It was Oulton on the OMCC two dayer

  11. We did Snetterton yesterday. I called beforehand to ask about the 1199R and they said that they would do everything they could to get me out but if I'm running in fast group then it's very likely I would fail the drive-by noise testing. Because of this I took the S and ran with the baffles in and it went really well.

There was a guy there without baffles who was going easy past the noise meters which you can see on yellow poles around the track. It's a very fast track and I had no power issues running with the baffles in so personally I'd rather run them and go full throttle everywhere I wanted to.

  12. Updated Brands Hatch as well. Strictly stock end cans only, you will not be allowed out with Termi or Akro. This is despite the fact that you can run baffles which make the bike quieter than stock so a stupid rule. The R is not allowed out as it has Akro/Termi as standard. I may try and get Ducati to help with this as my Termis with baffles are definitely quieter on the driveby than the BMW S1000RR so it doesn't make sense.

  13. When I was last at brands a guy on an s1000rr got flagged in and had to retake the static as it set off the sound metres.

The Marshall at the pit entrance post (exit of clearways) gave me a lot of attention when I went past, so I think I was probably the topic of conversation over the radio..

  14. ok so it looks like if I keep the stock cans on I should be ok at msv track (according to there website), Donington and Silverstone (both drive-by). I no 100% I will be fine on Euro trips. Ive wanted one for so long I don't want this to be the reason I don't get one! Think its gonna be just get one and hope I will be ok

  15. Just get one mate, you'll not regret it. Mine is almost exclusively for track days and Brands Hatch is the only one thats a real problem. Even that will be ok if you have standard cans and running in the lower speed groups.

  16. Only Castle Combe would still be a problem..... But it is a problem with almost anything!

  17. Ah yes, I forgot about Castle Combe. They basically fail just about every race bike anyhow.

  18. not fussed about Castle Combe anyway, I run mid pack pace in Inters so not like I'm running at the front in fast.

Best get shopping if I want one in time for my trip to Portimao in October then

  19. Was flicking through Performance Bikes today and spotted an advert from MWR claiming their filters reduce induction noise by 8db. Not sure if this would help on a static test but could help on the drive by?
