Took delivery of my 09 848 today and it's amazing apart from a hiccup with the dash. I noticed that once I started going up the road, the dash had gone blank, gave it a tap and it came back on and was flickering on and off intermittently for a while, another good tap and it seems to be ok now but there was no backlight on when I came home around 9 in fading light. I got back and if I give it a sharp tap near the bottom of the dash the light will flick on in time with the tapping if that makes sense? Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks!
I'll call him tomorrow but I can't be bothered with the hassle of getting it back to them about 120 miles away. If it's a quick fix I'll just do it myselfand ask him to cover costs.
It could potentially be expensive. I'd put up with the hassle to get it sorted Rob. Presure him for a loan bike while it's sorted. There are threads on here about similar problems with flickering dashes. I can't remember what the problem was.
Thanks guys. I'll have a look at that connector tomorrow and see if it cures it. If not I'll have to get the bike back to the dealer.

Been awhile since I dabbled with an 848,might be able to reach around. If it's not that it's likely to the dash, which as Rob says it'll be expensive as it matched the the keys.
Thanks for the pointers My dash goes completely blank, rev counter, speed display, the lot. Bit came back when I tapped it.. makes me think it's a dicky connection to be honest. I'll hope it is but if not it'll be back to the dealer!

Worth a look I suppose, but if the dicky connection is inside the dash, it's not something you can rectify. Plus I'd be loath to give the dealer an excuse to wriggle out of any repair because you've taken it upon yourself to pull the bike apart.
Mine did that and it turned out to be a dodgy r/r. I was told the bike shuts the dash down in this case. Not sure that's true but never did it again after the r/r was changed.
It came from an independent dealer and his warranty is very limited and electrical wise it covers ecu and fuel injection. I'll see if he's including the dash as ecu but I'm guessing he'll try and get out of it if there's any way he can. I'll check the r/r if I can't find anything else wrong. Hopefully it's just a connector issue
Well limited warranty or not, you've had it less than 24 hours, that doesn't give him any wriggle room in my book.
check charging voltage on dash using toggle switch on l/h switch....if you can get it to display of course! Or volt meter across battery when bike is running.
Charge voltage is good and lights aren't flickering with the dash so I'm happy that the r/r is okay. I've not had a chance to pull the nose cone off yet and have a proper fiddle but I'm fairly sure it's wiring/plug or the dash itself. When I get to the bottom of it I'll report back
