  2. reading between the lines on motomatters, he is what is needed as he brings the cash. Alas, WSB hasn't managed to sort out it's place in the world post the resurgence of MotoGP (see Sepang not renewing the contract as well).

Now, what's Ron Haslam doing these days... ;)

  3. are ducati short of a few bob then?

  4. I was reading motomatters also, seems he will ride for free

  5. Or Foggy since he came out of the jungle. :upyeah:

Colin Edwards is only a guest presenter on every other GP meeting, so he's free some weekends too. :)

  6. Having seen the way he "paraded" at the festival of Jurby 2014(?) he's keen enough (although *lights blue touchpaper* I think McGuinness could have caught him if he'd been parading as hard as Foggy was...)

  7. Its funny how we all like to think motorbike sport is a cut above the likes of football but theyre just the same really – dominated and spoilt by the money men.

Its about time someone dug deep *ahem* Mr Crutchlow and started a VR46 type riders academy for young and upcoming UK riders who don’t have the benefit of filthy rich parents.

Only then will we be rid of the looming shadows of 33 year old has beens who dont deserve the rides they seem to be getting.

  8. Scott Redding has a minimoto academy in Swindon and there are currently at least 2 minimoto/minibike series for the young uns... producing the likes of Danny Kent & the up'n'coming Charlie Nesbitt.

  9. Talking of Nesbitt, our next big star for sure. He was awesome at Thruxton!!!

  10. yeh rory skinners another one tipped for success isnt he

why do they always have to head off to spain if they want to be noticed though?

  11. Nesbit will need the backing of British money to make the big stage.

  12. Always makes me wonder how the fast road circuit guys would fare in the likes of WSBK. Michael dunlop, guy martin etc. Has anyone ever made the switch with any noticeable success?

  13. can't think of any road racers who have made a impact on short tracks in recent times, Huchie and Rutter run towards the front end of super stocks , Mcpint and Dunlop only run mid pack at best in bsb, I don't think the transition from road to track is a easy one.

  14. hicky doesnt do too badly in bsb but then youd probably class him as a track racer first and foremost

he cant be far off a tt win of some description id have thought though

  15. The Honda boys did alright in the world endurance IIRC. wonder if that's a reflection of the different discipline or the level of talent doing it?

Guy Martin I think could be quite good on track, but he's never got himself focussed on it (and is possibly still banned from it?). I don't think it suits McPint's, errr, physique...

  16. Guy got himself in trouble before he managed to prove himself on short circuit lol

  17. Very poorly. Sealy probably the most succesful? Maybe Rutter but he was short circuit riding anyway. Hutchinson may be interesting...

  18. Martin would be lucky to not be lapped in BSB.

Seems track to road there is more success...brookes, hickman...and endurance is differnt again, but you do see a lot of ex-top racers doing well in the end of career stuff like this

  19. Its probably fair to say there are plenty of great riders that never get a leg up into decent race series. Money talks at race meetings.
everybody on this forum knows they fight just to keep a standard bike tip top and if you manage to get a bike race ready and maintained you find that your to busy working rather than practising at a track and lobbying for a team spot.
In the end you only get time to watch a few races and you want them to be the best races, so you end up watching motogp and dream about being rich and playing around in WSB
