I think that's a little harsh, but do agree to a point. Ducati should definitely have made it clear to dealers, allocations and who's getting what when announcing the bike. My dealer was pretty confident on the 4th that he'd get about 3 of them and took deposits to that effect the same day in good faith! People that have paid their deposits and don't get the bike, will ultimately feel let down, probably with their dealer and not necessarily Ducati. This sort of thing happens all the time though and I've been let down by the likes of Porsche in similar situations. As phill748 said it's a good opportunity to get a great deal on a 1299s!
I have no problem with the dealer as Ducati didn't tell them what the situation was until the bike had been released. It was only after the dealers had taken numerous deposits that Ducati revealed their "strategy". Anyway, I've spent far too much money with them already - maybe it is time for a change, time for something different. The dealer offered to refund my deposit the instant it became clear what the situation was. I asked him to hold onto it not so much for the Anniversario but because he is also an Aprilia dealer. I have no interest in a standard bike because none of my others are standard. Not that it was a plan of mine, it's just that every time I wanted a new bike, a special was available. We'll see but their market stall approach to selling the Anniversario hasn't impressed me. It's been a really shabby affair.
No confirmation for me as yet. Spoke to my local dealer today and nothing coming up on the system as yet in terms of build/delivery dates...
Mmmm, Italy closed from this week, they must be going in specially to put it together or not :Wideyed:
Looks like one per dealer is correct, I missed out on one. Got offered £1000 off 1299s or 1199R, but I think I will stick with the 1199s now till next year. As I think they will be something New out.
when are these arriving then/who's going to be the first to get one and let us all know what a lucky SOB they are?
All being well mine should be all safely tucked in my garage well before the end of August . You get your bikes from Seastar as well?
