I really like to know what's behind me and my 1098 mirrors are appalling. Is there anyway to improve them, or are there 3rd party replacements which work? Cheers.
You could use the after market mirror extenders from the likes of Oberon or the Ducati spacers from the 1198? Alternatively try a Reevu helmet, better than mirrors in a vibrating twin!
I went with the DP mirrors, although smaller and a rediculous price, they don't vibrate half as much....now I get one car behind instead of about six. I'm not sure if the extenders will go on them tho.... Anth
Try these: Ducati 1098 mirror extender | eBay Bargain at that price I paid about £70 for mine a few years agao!
Thanks for the great advice guys. I'm going to investigate the extenders as mentioned and Ducati GT/DP mirrors, also mentioned in this review 1098 Replacement Mirrors Comparo : Analysis ? - ducati.org forum | the home for ducati owners and enthusiasts
Be careful you don't get ripped off on the mirror extenders, they were only about £40 quid for the genuine Ducati ones from a dealer as an OE. replacement for the 1198 ones. That eBay add is only for one too. And the Oberon ones have a funny kick in them, which instantly turns your pride and joy from a thing of beauty into a moose! Anth
Thanks XxAnthxX for the tip, £75 was looking expensive for 50mm's. I'm not near a Ducati dealer, who'd you recommend for mail order/online
Oooo, I normally use Ducati Glasgow or Moto Rapido, both carry lots of replacement items and DP parts too, they're both really quick on the delivery of the items in stock, usually next day and offer excellent help and advice. I've also had good service from Cobb and Jagger near Leeds. Anth
Moto- rapido. I enquired about them before I got my DP ones. Was quoted about a tenner each I think. Matt
Here's an alternative that would also be an improvement to the stock mirrors. A blindfold, great idea! Tho I've not tried it personally!
Yeah I'm not sure what Oberon were thinking with those.... Obviously went against the Italian's passion for sexy looks first, function second, to create something that probably works great...but makes you look like your riding a reindeer or summit. Anth
Doh.....Yeah that's what I thought I'd said.....n you think your memory was bad. Nog you really need to get the web site sorted! (maybe by a kind forum Founder or his Administrator, if your reading this Rob or Kryptonit3) Anth
i too wanted some extenders when i first bought the bike but i read a post on a forum the usa one i think and they recommended lifting your elbow instead of dropping it and to be honest it is better obviously you still get the vibration but i can live with that.
