Hi all, 1st post! Has anyone written the buyers guide for a 1098? I'm looking at buying either one but unsure as to what to look out for other than the obvious service history. Also need to get my head around model year differences and what additions the S model came with if anyone can help! Thanks in advance...

S model is worth around 1k extra in my opinion some early 07 models with very low miles could end up with main bearing failure as they upgraded the mains later. Great bike whichever model you go for. Expect to pay upwards of £5.500 for a decent non s model.
Why are you looking at a 1098 rather than an 1198? Not a dig, just curious? The 1198 ironed out a lot of the problems of the 1098, not that there were many.
Started looking at a 848 I saw locally, then thought I might as well get a big one to find not a huge difference in prices. So I'm not averse to an 1198 but don't really have any knowledge of either!
Try and get a test ride if you can, you will be smitten. Have you seen @ditchvisitor 1098 for sale on here? Has lots of extras on it.
Hi. Don't write off the 848, especially the Evo and SE versions. These are the final iteration of that platform. I have a Corse se and a KTM RC8R which is 1195cc, there is not as much difference as you might expect and in many ways the 848 is more rewarding.
Its more involved to ride than the RC8 which has centralised mass and faster easier turning, you have to work a lot harder to turn an 848 but its bliss when you get it right (get a rear ride height adjuster to help with that). I would imagine a 1x98 would be the same though I think they come already fitted with the adjuster?? In terms of usable power, on the road there's really not much difference as far as corners are concerned. If you like going fast in a straight line though then yes the bigger bike will do that better.
