So today was a good Ducati day. I tightened up the battery terminals on the 749, after the embarrassing "will not start" moment last Weds night, and put a new stop light bulb in its rear light. Pulled the Scrambler out for a run to Lincoln with my Dad and gave the tank and mudguards a treat (AutoGlym HD Wax) to make them all mile-deep and sparkly before taking it out and giving it a good kicking. It felt a bit weird after a fairly intensive 749 / Fireblade / GSXR stint but it soon came back (it's like riding a bike) and normal service was resumed. Had a good nosy at Italia... there is much there I covet (Guzzi Daytona, Bimota YB11 and SB6, little single 60's Ducati with a bevel, Black Mutley 1000DS on Maxton front and rear, Monster 1200s, Pani' R, couple of Pani' S's... not to mention all of the new stuff, including the first Enduro I've seen, liked it) and was happy to bump into @Chrisduke and have a few mins of chinwag upstairs before trying to beat the rain. His 899 was looking beautiful as always, and I might have gushed a bit about his RGV500... lovely thing. Excellent fellow. Decent ride back, and Fatherfire swapped my Classic for his Icon so that I could have a go with his new Dart screen. Pretty impressive, at 120 (private road, professional rider, ideal conditions) the whole bike was calmer and less light up front, and there was significantly less chest buffeting. Got home, did some work and then it still hadn't rained so I yanked the Scrambler back out and went off via Willingham and Louth and a bazillion little back roads to practice stupid things (donuts, wheelies) and to enjoy the great views from the top of the Wolds over Lincolnshire and up towards Mordo... East Yorkshire. Bit more acting like a child and the sky was really starting to look serious, so I headed home. Opened a beer as the clouds opened theirs and it rained for about 4 seconds. It's now dry and unfortunately I've had a Peroni... beer stops play. :grimacing:
Scrambler FTW. I was all a bit down on mine lately and back in sports bike mode... a good belt about on mine sorted that this afternoon. I really love that bike, it's a peach. Italia have been badgering me to take a Diavel out, just because they know I don't like the look... apparently I'll be converted in minutes. In fairness they were spot-on that I'd fall for the Monster 1200S (I want one really badly) so I'm a bit afeared to try one...
So today I made a new friend in craig the parts guru at moto rapido. He did however help me lighten the wallet
I called into a Chinese pet shop today. There was a "sale" sign on the wall - "Buy one dog, get one flea"
Today I had an emergency appointment at the dentist because I woke up with a f'ing sore tooth (and a sore head). The tooth, one of the front ones, started playing up on Friday night. The dentist x-rayed it but couldn't see anything obviously wrong (there was an inconclusive dark patch near the root) so said he'd try replacing a small filling that was ancient and looked a little dodgy but if that didn't work then he'd have to resort to root canal treatment. :Wideyed: Replacing the filling didn't work so I'll make another emergency appointment tomorrow to get the nerve yanked out. :Nailbiting: Pass me the Old Pulteney, it's going to be a long night.
Went to see Star Trek as wife is a saddo and likes that crap. Was crap. Only went as it was raining. Was supposed to go tomorrow night but I'm hoping it'll be dry...
Stuck at work. I have sorted one issue and found another, that's a job for another day. A meeting at lunch, then I'm going home to play with the Ducati. Got my Dial gauge now and extra pair of hands to keep the bike level for other checks. I think the Ducati is going for a suspension set up on Friday and if I can't find out why the front end feels a bit iffy at low speed then they will look into that before hand.
Repairing some concrete on footings of the house under the damp proof course, easy enough except it rained as I was mixing the concrete and it's now a bit sloppy.
