Cheers buddy. I actually ended up using 3m pads and either megs or 3m compound if I remember right. It wasn't the best but got there in the end. Unfortunately, the dealer washed the bike as it was dirty when it went in and I think they did it with wire wool!
Why do they do that? I had one dealer who, bless them, didn't want the bike seen with grubby finger marks so wiped it down with what I can only imagine was the the grubbiest microfibre ever, they were very proud of the service but I wasn't over impressed with the scratching! megs 105/205 for me too I think.
For most, it's a handy favour, like a complimentary wash at a car dealer. Its only weirdos like me that ask for the new motor to come with the plastic still on and not prepped etc.
