I recently have ordered a rear suspension height adjuster for my 848 after waiting 10 days for a phone call from Ducati Manchester I rang them to find out that they reckon parts ordered take 7 to 10 days to be delivered to the dealership and the status of my part is in transit my question is, is this normal practice for ordering a part from the factory ? Richie
Depends which parts! Most dealers are good enough to have a stock of the stuff that people use (read: break!) or that are service items so have them to hand, but other stuff will have to be ordered from the factory. My experience is that this kind of thing should only be a couple of days, but it depends on how the dealer handles it - maybe they save orders up and only place an order once a week, rather than having to handle multiple small orders? Some parts also take longer than others - I had to wait about 2 months for a D16 clutch cover!
I got DMC to take my 848 Evo Corse to Kais for them to fettle it. And fettle it they did. They lowered it by 50mm
They aren't very good at getting stuff done or keeping you informed, that's for certain. Having said that Ducati Leeds were no better a few years ago when I dealt with them.
If you can cancel it Richie.... I have one from a 1098 that I can sell you, that's what I have on my 848 too.
It's probably 6 of one half a dozen of the other. Italy is notoriously hard to get parts out of in a quick fashion no matter who you are and Ducati manchester probably held back ordering for a few days until they had other parts to order which may of also impacted on it a bit but also saved a shit load in shipping or minimum order quantity penalties (if they have them) still it's your money so feel free be as pissed off as you want ...... I'm just saying its nothing new things taking this long
Did you try any other dealers? Ducati Coventry and Glasgow usually have some of the largest stock in the UK..
i tried them all, same reply - no stock, order item a couple of weeks to get, a friend waited 5 months to get a carbon ignition surround for his panigale, I am not complaining it,s been like that since I bought my first multi 1000 in 2004.
