I am thinking of buying a 796 monster or a 796 hypermotard for next year, has anyone owned both or could give a opinion,im riding a 92 ss now and fancy a more relaxed ride, cheers.
2 weeks off after this week, but fooked with the back again but I'll lug it over if it kills me if you have a slot!!! I pick my van up next Monday too Might have to get someone to lift it in for me :Hilarious:
Next week is good,if your stuck i will drive over to yours and pick it up....had a look at the sf too many valves and water cooled lol
I'll give you a shout, any day better for you? Tuesday would be the earliest after picking the van up. I can get it loaded one evening with a mate.
I test rode a 796 Monster before buying the 796 Hypermotard. Didn't like the riding position, for me it just wasn't comfortable. I'm 6'1". I'd try and at least sit on both to get a feel for them.
Suggest you take both for a test ride. I had a Monster as a courtesy bike whilst my Hyper was being serviced - couldn't wait to get back on the Hyper.
I tried both when also coming from an SS, much preferred the monster which just seemed to fit me . The hyper almost felt like riding with my arms behind my shoulders , not for me at all . Tried one again recently and it didnt feel quite so odd, maybe it is just a matter of a much longer test ?
I think all dealers with have a HM939 and a monster 821 for test ride. I agree with Moses. I have a HM 939SP and was loaned a monster 821 dark. I'm 6ft3 and the monster felt like I was sitting on the floor. Way too low. The HM is the opposite though, only good if you have long legs.
Well im only 5' 10" so i will try both,i need to keep the weight off my wrists and streighten my back and neck,i did at first think monster but im swinging to the hm,my mate rode one he said it was a tool.
Youre about the same height as me....id say hyper personally but its a taste thing....ive never liked the monster's front light....cos they've kept it the same at the front is the reason ive never wanted one...
Next time I'm up in Lincolnshire you can have a go on mine mate.... I'm 5'7" and my Hyper 1100 feels great so with your longer arms and legs it should be just as good..
No problem...I'll message you next time I'm up there or if you are near the Midlands anytime drop me a message....
