Anyone fitted a Dynojet Quickshifter to their PCV on a 1098/1198?? Thinking of adding one to my 1198 and wondered if its much of a job setting up the pushrod etc? Also is it a pull/push type we need?? Cheers Mike.
Yer, not sure how a HM or Translogic one would work with my PCV already set up on my 1198..? Maybe worth spending the extra cash and get a dynojet dealer to fit it for me...be next year now though...:-(
I fitted a HM plus one a month or two ago. Theres only two plugs to fit that sit inline to each coil (dunno where the PC connects). But HM do a cheaper one without the control unit for the PC too. The HM strain gauge can be set for extension or compression (pull or push) depending upon if your set up for road or race shift pattern. The road setting is compression (push). Speak to Arthurbikemad on here he'll be able to advise on which is the best option and supply a HM unit to suit.
HM Plus is stand alone so does not require any other unit to function.. Also HM Plus cuts the coils for a clean "kill" unlike shifters that cut the FI system. Any questions you may ask and I will try and help point you in the right direction no matter what or where you buy.. That said the HM Plus is one of the best shifters on the market for many reasons..
Translogic are good had one fitted to the R1 but had a HM plus fitted to the 2010 blade and its significantly better in my opinion. I loved the HM plus, the strain gauge is much more precise than the mechanical shifter it's also great you can chose between road and race shift (comp/extension) also for £50 you can buy a new harness if you change bikes. Wish I had not sold it now, I will be buying a HM unit for my bike they are stunning to use and once you have had one they are hard to live without !
Decided to go for the dynojet quickshifter, just to keep it all simple and compatible with the PCV...much cheaper than most others too..£177 off eBay!
be careful to set it up right, just saw a guy munch 4th gear on his 1098 thanks to a dynojet quick shifter
