Anyone know what the thinking is behind Shakeys BSB Panni with the under Tail pipes? The only thing I could think of was is it the change the centre of gravity perhaps... The WSB boys don't have I notice...
I believe the bike doesn't meet the niose restrictions in place at UK circuits with the underslung belly pan level pipes.
Oh... But what happens when WSB comes to Donnington then? I can't be 100% sure but I thought I saw another team running in today's BSB round with the belly pipes on.. I'm not upto speed on BSB as I never normally get a chance to watch it...
WSBK noise level is higher and the Akra pipes they run are to loud for bsb regs and i was told 40k a set,the Akra pipes give the bike more top end where the pani was losing out,i would guess Paul Bird is running this system to try to replicate the advantages of the Akra but with lower noise levels and less cost.
BSB has lower noise limits yes, but moto Rapido are still using under slung silencers, it's only test days that they have had issues with. I imagine it makes more mid and top end because of how many less bends there are in the pipes? The belly pipes have a lot of winding pipe work. I read somewhere it's 1hp per 90degree bend, think that was when they were marketing serpent headers Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
40k a set! God almighty..so the lesser teams running Pannis and the belly cans in BSB must be running termis I guess.. Ive always liked the 916 look of the two cans under the tail but have to say it doesn't look right on the Panni..
For a brief moment there I thought that there must be some new gadget I hadn't heard of, called a "shakey", which can be installed underneath a tail pipe...
Some photos for reference: The WSB Akrapovic under seat exhaust... The BSB Termignoni under seat exhaust...
Notice no exhaust valve between the branches in the uk exhaust so a totally different design, not just about volume Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That WSB Akrapovic system has different diameter cores. I wonder what the thinking is there? Maybe to compensate for differing lengths of pipes up to the silencers?
It's been mentioned by them, it's to control engine braking so the valve effectively alters the back pressure in the braking zones to control entry to corners, again something the BSB bikes can't do because of their stock Motec ECU. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I read an article (that I will look for) that talked about the valve in the WSB system (see photo below) and what it does. The reason that could not be used in BSB is because it is all controlled by the ECU, which i do not think is allowed in BSB?...
