  4. I'm also permanently excluded as I've had a transfusion and major surgery. Shame really as I really wanted to donate to 'replace' what I've had.

  6. I had really bad malaria as a kid when I grew up in Uganda and Kenya, now got type 1 Diabetes,MS and Haemochromotosis (massive iron overload in my blood and the only treatment is Venesection - draining 2 pints of blood out of me every 2 weeks! I asked a nurse once what they do with my blood and she replied "Fertilizer!"

  7. Me too, it's a stupid rule. :Arghh:

They gave me the blood, now I'm not allowed to give any back. Doesn't exactly fill you full of confidence that they were happy with the stuff they stuck back in my veins.

  11. Hahaha! The blood letting/draining thing is all very strange. If you suffer from Haemochromotosis you have to be of Viking/Nordic ancestory and its hereditary - you can't catch it! Basically all sufferers are born with a lining missing in their stomach that absorbs and breaks down iron in your blood.Without the draining the iron builds up and attacks your liver, kidneys etc and will eventually stop your heart. There is no cure or treatment apart from blood letting! My kids have all been tested and thank god they all got the all clear

  12. So are you banned from eating broccoli? That's my kids dream!

  16. Went to Weston bike night last night and met up with AndyT749 and had a good natter. Also went to Loomies last sunday with a couple of lads from the AF1 forum (Sean and Ross) best comment of the day from Sean "The A36 is a really wide road if you use the cross hatching all the time...its like your own personal lane!" id just like to say now I did not have a gopro fitted.

  17. Close mate of mine got killed on cross hatching, very mature and sensible rider. I consider them a "kill box" and won't go near them. One of the few rules I'll never break on the bike. Don't care how quite it looks, if I get left behind a group or overtaken by a Harley.

  18. You know about the Thursday speed camera van parties in Sandford and Banwell don't you. It's a regular gathering as It's a popular route to the bike nights from Bristol.

  19. Hmm - I don't tend to use it by default (I'm not sure what the situation was with your friend - I'm sorry to hear that by the way) but, for me I tend to be a little hesitant going on them due to the surface (lots of gravel and debris gets thrown on to them) so if I'm approaching cross hatching I slow up a little and look very carefully at the surface...

  20. Didn't see one copper last night...nothing atall (not even in Weston), not even at the bike night itself...I was on my guard a little going up to Weston but relaxed a bit on the way home through the congresbury road...

Actually ill take that back....coming down the ashton bypass I hit the roadworks at the bottom I saw a "services liveried" bike on the otherside of the roundabout but too far away to identify - I was looking out of the side of my lid - he followed me round the roundabout but then turned off....could have been blood or doc/ambulance...
